Survival, Desert

  • This proficiency is a "Trained Use" skill, meaning that it cannot be used until it is unlocked.
  • The cost to unlock this skill is Two Proficiency Points.
  • There is no Attribute Modifier.
A character with this proficiency unlocked is more easily able to anticipate or avoid hazards of a desert environment. He or she can, on a successful proficiency check, locate a water hole nearby, or trails leading to one. Otherwise they may use the normal method of finding water holes--perhaps the single most important aspect of this skill. This proficiency also includes foraging skill (specifically for desert, nowhere else). At the DM's discretion, other advantages may be afforded to a character with the desert survival skills and to other members of his or her party. Example: A proficient character may be able to endure a long stretch of time when no fresh water is available--not because he or she can go without water for longer than anyone else, but because he or she knows how to conserve their supply.
