Slow Respiration

    A character who has unlocked this proficiency has the ability to enter a deep trance and greatly reduce the amount of air he or she needs to stay alive. In order to induce the trance, the character must be in a restful position, either sitting or lying down. After concentration for one turn, the character's pulse and breathing rate drop well below normal, so that he or she uses air only 10% as fast as when resting. The character can emerge from his or her trance at will and is fully aware of anything happening nearby while the trance is in effect.
This proficiency in particular gives the character a chance per round they are under this effect to breathe in air that is poisoned via gas. Each round such gas is breathed in requires a proficiency check. For every additional round this check is made, they make a roll with a penalty of -3 cumulatively. Thus the second round has a -3 penalty. The third round has a -6 penalty. The fourth round has a -9 penalty, and so forth.
Certain gases cannot be consumed however, such as magical gases. Non-poisonous but still dangerous gases can reduce the penalty as well.
