Limner/Painter

Characters who grew up as an apprentice under, assistant to, or who practiced the works of a painter and limner, will have the chance to have this particular Extra Skill. For it pertains primarily to the knowledge of the various paints, colors and how to make them, brush sizes, styles and techniques, accuracy & creative approaches, and so forth. Thus while the character never has to be the one making the painting or portrait, they need to have been exposed to the process for long periods of time. This time would need to be vastly longer if the character is learning on their own without a mentor.

With the knowledge and experience of a Painter under their belt, characters with this skill can expertly appraise works of art of various sorts without any rolls, & properly determine the overall condition & quality of the artwork. This could result in discovering that the painting is a fake or duplication, whether it is of high quality material or low, whether the technique is considered advanced or too simple/underdeveloped, and of course the approximate worth of the painting in coin. In addition, should one with this skill spot any damage to a painting, so long as it isn't irreversable and the paints themselves do not need to be replaced or reapplied, they can repair the damage with the appropriate tools, materials and time to do so without any rolls (unless rushing the job).

Furthermore, the character with this skill can create works of art themselves without rolling (again, unless it's a rush job) which they can then sell so long as they have the materials. They can also attempt to create a forgery of any work of art so long as they have the right brushes, paints and canvas, and can make the attempt with a +1 to their roll. With an artist's eye for detail, those with this skill can also recall any form of art and inspiration, whether it be nature, paintings and tapestries, architecture, calligraphy, embroidery, jewelry, etc., with a +1 to their roll to recall.
