Husbandry, Animals
Characters who grew up as an apprentice under, assistant to, or who practiced the work of animal farmers and animal handlers/trainers, will have the chance to have this particular Extra Skill. For it pertains primarily to the knowledge of animal husbandry and how to raise animals properly, how to care for them, how to train them, how to selectively breed animals, how to help them give birth, and so forth. Thus while the character never has to be the one doing the work, they do need to have been exposed to the process for long periods of time. This time would need to be vastly longer if the character is learning on their own without a mentor.
With the knowledge and experience of someone who works in animal husbandry or training under their belt, characters with this skill can expertly appraise animals without any rolls, & properly determine the condition, shape and quality of the creature. This could result in discovering an animal is sick or sickly, weak or deformed, an average but good quality animal, or if it is superior to others of it's species, or even signs of being mistreated. In addition, should one with this skill come across an animal who is only in bad condition due to it's owners or prior owners, so long as their condition isn't irreversable, they can bring them back to pristine health and strength with the appropriate tools, food & time to do so without any rolls (unless they're practically a lost cause).
Furthermore, the character with this skill has such a keen eye for detail, that no matter what the animal they can spot the better quality easily, thus adding +1 hp to that creature's total hit points (not exceeding it's maximum), and can quickly identify which breeds are more superior/inferior in comparison to others, and are capable of properly breeding animals selectively to create new lines of fine breeds. They also have a +1 when rolling animal handling, +4 if they have been raising and caring for the animal for 4 or more months. Note: These skills and bonuses only apply to animals that this job can qualify for, such as cattle, livestock, fowl, horses, camels, etc. Any other form of beast like griffons, hyppogriffs, etc. require a proficiency check for animal handling or animal lore.
