Duergar

The Duergar, or dark dwarves, are the underdark variant of the dwarven races. Having originally descended from ancient mountain dwarf bloodlines, they hold fast to the believe that the underdark is theirs and no others. They dwell in masterfully crafted underground fortresses and cities rivalling that of the mountain dwarves, patrolling the underdark for resources and slaves, not afraid to utilize the shadows and, on rare occasions, even arcane magics to gain the upper hand.
