Gregoreich

"To the North of Spire City is the Gregorian Empire, better known simply as Gregoreich. A powerful and industrious state, their domain spreads across Northern Altea, along the edge of the Bitter Mountains, from the Cerulian Sea in the West to the Outlands that lie to the East. Their military is fearsome, supplemented by mechanical weapon platforms and warmek soldiers. Until recently, Gregoreich was the bane of Altea's existence, constantly warring with everyone within reach in it's hunger for conquest. Even since the war with Cerelia, they've begun to behave themselves a bit, but still hungrily eye Cerelia, Febral, and Nouvon."

Structure

At the top of the Gregoreich hierarchy sits the Emperor, who rules the entire Empire.

Public Agenda

Gregoreich is greatly concerned with both the acquisition of territory and the advancement of it's own technology and military.

Military

Gregoreich boasts the most powerful military in Altea, with a vast standing army, semi-automatic weaponry, and a sizeable force of mechanized units from warmeks to tanks. The empire highly values and prioritizes the military above all else.   Starting at age seventeen, all Gregoreichers are required to serve in the military in order to obtain full citizenship, which includes the right to own property and serve in local government. Gregoreichers with disabilities still serve, typically as office workers or in some other non-combat role. Serving in the military is viewed as a great honor that is expected of all citizens, regardless of gender, faith, or ability. There is no loophole to get out of serving; even the immediate family of the emperor must enlist or forfeit both their royal status and citizenship. Individuals who dodge enlisting are permanently barred from service; the military has no use for anyone so disloyal as to avoid service. However, enlistment dodgers can never become full citizens, and are relegated to lowly employment.   Gregoreich military training is harsh, but practical. While the military has high expectations, troops are treated well and assigned roles according to their skills and ability. Recruits that are deemed unfit for combat or command are given other roles, such as engineering, office, or kitchen work. Even rank and file troopers are taught other practical and trade skills for their lives after the military.   Typical Gregoreich troopers are equipped with a standard green and red uniform, light iron armor in the form of a helmet and a simple chest plate, and a semi-automatic short barrel carbine. Officers dress in similar uniforms, the main difference being a four-inch spike embedded on the top of the helmet, a short sword, and a semi-automatic pistol instead of a carbine. The Gregoreich military has a few specialized units, the most infamous of them being the Jaegers.

Foreign Relations

As far as foreign relations go, Gregoreich is capable of diplomacy and respects foreign autonomy to a certain extent, but still views the lands surrounding it as their own.

Education

Basic education for children and teenagers is free for everyone in Gregoreich, regardless of citizenship status. This free education, while free and relatively comprehensive, is not enough to secure a decent career beyond service industries. Advanced education is tied to military service and is only accessible to those who enlist. Members of the military receive advanced, specialized education while serving to prepare them for life after the military. After completing the minimum time of service, citizens are granted a certificate of education for their field of study, along with their completed citizenship. Anyone who wishes to continue their education after military service may do so at any number of specialized academies exclusive to full citizens.
