The Black Forest

The Black Forest (or Schwarzwald as it's known to its common-speaking neighbors) is a place of magic and wonder. It is a temperate forest situated in the North Eastern tip of Athos, and is believed to be the largest forest in the world.
Although the forest covers such wide tracts of land, not much is known about it beyond that it is the homeland and origin of the Elves (and other Fey/Sylvan creatures). Part of the reason for this is that creatures without Fey ancestry who enter the forest tend to never be seen again. The Elves native to this great forest seem to have no such issue and so Elvish guides are typically required for safe passage.
Once inside the forest, a traveler will encounter the natural beauty and wonder of the Elvish Kingdom. The entire forest has been touched by the magic of the Fey, brightening colors and beautifying all aspects. It is easy to see why Elvish poets are so renowned: a homeland like The Black Forest would provide a poet with enough material to last many lifetimes (which is rather long for Elves).
