Asmodeus, the Archduke of the Nine Hells of Baator, has made it to where he is by being the most calculating and menacing devil in all of Baator's history. He has reigned for eons at the top ever since he overthrew Tiamat and imprisoned her in his throne room. It is rumored that Asmodeus also controls all chromatic dragons by his subjugation of Tiamat.

Asmodeus is one of the only of the archdevils who has not created any offspring. Because of this, his preference for men or women is unknown.
Failures & Embarrassments
His conquest to eradicate the demons of the Abyss is one of his biggest failings. The Blood War was framed as an easy task, but it has lasted for the last few millennia. It was this failure that led Asmodeus to create the first legion of Illriggers. The other two archdevils quickly followed in suit.
Morality & Philosophy
Asmodeus is the devil's devil. Of the inhabitants of Hell, he is the most attuned to thrive. He backstabs the best, he plots deeper, his cruelty is the cruelest. This is evidenced by the rumor that Tiamat sits in painful docility behind his throne. He is said to hold all of the chromatic dragons in the same form of torturous bondage in his throne room. His minions are frequently replaced or promoted through no discernible reasoning. If anyone is able to decipher his true personal goals, they have never shared, or perhaps they did not live long enough to reveal these secrets.
