Tor Elian: Realm of the Magi

Tor Elian is the smallest of the Nine, and consists merely of the city-state of Tor Elian and the surrounding rocky peninsula. Nonetheless, Tor Elian stands as equals to the other Nine. It is here that the greatest libraries, universities, and places of magical learning stand. Hammered by torrential downpours, lightning storms, and freak waves, Tor Elian juts into the Shimmering Sea like a blade. The Mirrored Spire is the oldest centre of magical learning in the world, and the first university in recorded history. Amon, the most learned city in Holmgardian civilization, was likely built in imitation of Tor Elian, but it is only a pale shadow of its glory.


It is said that each of the 80,000 residents of Tor Elian would be counted as scholars among the younger people, and this is not far from the truth. Tor Elian is packed with scholarly edifices, and all the worlds knowledge is stored here. Yet in the recent millennia, the scholars here have become complacent in their learning. In their belief that Eldar civilization is perfect, they do not conduct new experiments, nor send out explorers and scholars to the field. The learning here is didactic and based on the teachings that have been passed down in the tomes for thousands of years. The happenings of the younger peoples are far beneath them.
