Hamit Shalmanaz
"'Ey you fellows! Wait up! I'm comin' with ye!"
- Hamit Shalmanaz (Shalmanson), to the Champions of Carsgarde Hamit is a blacksmith and armourer in the Imperial city of Carovin. Born to a Dwarf father and human mother, he was strongly influenced by his father growing up. His father, Shalman Forimaz, ran Shalman and Son's smithy, which quickly became the premier source for metalwork in Carovin. Hamit learned the skills of the trade in his early youth, and the business prospered.
In the decades prior to Hamit's birth, thousands of Dwarves had been called back to their holds from the Empire, never to return. The call was often along the lines of: "Your family and fatherland require your service." When Hamit was born, traders from Tznchundel had already ceased their treks into the Barrowmere.
Shalman never got over the departure of his people. When Hamit was a beardling, he left for Tznchundel, and never returned. Hamit was then left to run the business, and devoted his life to becoming the greatest smith in the Barrowmere region. He succeeded.
By the time the People's Crusade had been called, Hamit was forging implements of war on a near-industrial scale. Unfortunately, an undead army soon swept across the region, laying Carovin to siege. Hamit had always been a shrewd sort, quick to jump on opportunity where it presented itself. Furthermore, he always wished to discover what happened to his father. So he joined the Champions of Carsgarde, having spoken to their warrior Gerhardt on several occasions about dwarven lore.
