Cythera: Realm of the Many

Cythera is a wooded realm situated between the river Malar and the Shimmering Sea. It is a densely populated kingdom, as one of the largest cities in the known world is situated here. Theron is a metropolis of nearly a quarter-million, dwarfing Holmgard and other cities of the Empire. Situated on a large island in the mouth of the sluggish river Malar, Theron is one of the only locations in the Nine Kingdoms open to outsiders - albeit few. Many elves view Theroners with suspicion, seeing them as untrustworthy, hyperactive, and materialistic. Conversely, Theroners view many other elves as being too traditional, snobby, and indecisive.

Theron is a sprawling city of gleaming white apartments and slender towers, surrounded by a fleet of elegant fishing boats, yachts, and war galleons. Feeding such a large city requires an immense amount of agriculture, and the fertile banks of the river Malar provide plenty of space to do so. Valmer farmers work the black soil to produce golden wheat, citrus, figs, and other foodstuffs, bringing their produce back to spotless villages roofed with multi-coloured tiles before being shipped to Theron.

Beyond the river and the City, Cythera is a sparsely populated region. The remainder of the kingdom consists of rocky woodland battered by the Shimmering sea, peopled by a hardy collection of woodsmen and sailors that seldom have much to do in Theron aside from frequenting the City's many taverns and wineries.
