Mountain War

Ancient war between the High Elves of the Old Empire and the Mountain Dwarves of the Atlan Mountains . Causes of the war have been forgotten. Dwarven scholars tend to have very different theories from Elven scholars.
Tradition holds that the war lasted for a thousand years, although it is far more likely that the "War" was actually a series of short conflicts spread over a period of no more than a hundred years.
Hostilities ended with the Treaty of Mount Atlan. The Mountain Dwarves became citizens of the Empire. The western border of the Empire was moved to the Atlan Mountains and the Mountain Dwarves were charged with protecting the western border.
