Konrad was appointed Margrave towards the end of the Triarchist Crusade . The previous Margrave, Endger , was removed by the The Knights of the Black River as Imperial forces advanced towards the city of Brandbrug . Konrad, a rich local baron and younger son of the Duke of Dundgren, had been a generous benefactor to the Knights, and they were instrumental in his elevation to Margrave.
