The Legend of the Darkstar Prince and the Lords of Havok

Summary

The Legend of the Darkstar Prince and the Lords of Havok is a romanticized telling of the fall of the grand city of Omnitopia. It covers the origins of the prince, the forming of his armies, and the fall of Omnitopia

Historical Basis

The legend is rooted in the destruction of the grand city of Omnitopia. Omnitopia was the single largest and most advanced nation in known history. Despite it's size, and military, it was razed to the ground in a single day by an unknown army. The army was described by survivors as appearing as demons. Accounts differ, but the general consensus is that this army was led by three or four powerful warlords. It is believed due to the otherworldly nature of the armies, and how quickly the city was destroyed, that people filled in the gaps with a more supernatural spin. Some scholars speculate that this army may have in fact been Kolonati, making their first excursion to the surface long before their first recorded attack. While there is no evidence to support this claim, there is no record of what this army was, where it came from, or for that matter, where it went.   Many expansions to the story are beleived to have been added to link other events of the time to the Darkstar Prince. During the time of Omnitopia's rise, many smaller villages and towns were being decimated by war and bandits. The "Princes Travels" portions of the legend, mostly newer additions, have the Darkstar Prince visiting the locations, which always leads to their destruction. However this is mostly fantasy, as there is no indication that if in fact the Darkstar Prince is real, that he had any connection to the world's strife at the time

Spread

The mystery and fall of Omnitopia has been a subject of debate from all races. Even the Verryn who were alive at the time, were unaware of what had happened (in part to their own civil crisis) until after the fact. as such the legend of the Darkstar Prince has spread to all points on the globe.

Variations & Mutation

Most versions of the legend speak of three Lords of Havok, who are the Prince's followers. In the most common version, these three are "The Hunter of the Metal Beast" (metal beast generally accepted to be the beast Barakus), "The Unknown God"  and the "She-Beast". Some versions however do not recount of the "She-Beast", while others tell of a fourth "Silver Haired Demon". Given that Silver hair is usually a sign of the Silvari, this latter version is denounced and considered blasphemous by the Silvari and their Drakari counterparts.   Other minor variations swap the hunter with Barakus. Some denounce this due to long standing sightings of a mountain of a man wearing armor made to look like Barakus. He supposedly shows up when Barakus does to hunt the beast.   In more recent years, due to some theories crafted by historians, many have come to beleive that the "Unknown God" was in fact the wizard Constantine the Mad, as such many modern retellings of the legends state so.    Another more recent change also gives a name to the Darkstar Prince, though not an inventive one. He has gone from just being referred to as "the living embodiment of rage" to being named Rage.   The legend has also spread to include many small stories of the Darkstar Prince's travels as he journeyed to the demon realm. Some are tragedies, some comedies, though none have any historical basis, most are told word of mouth, and every region has their own unique tales.

Cultural Reception

Due to the generally accepted description of the Darkstar Prince, many have assumed Serahken, Kolonati Emperor, to be said prince. This has further bolstered many to believe that he and the Kolonati were responsible for the fall of Omnitopia. However the Solonar have debunked this claim as Serahken was not yet born during the fall of Omnitopia.   The Clergy of Chaos idolize the Lords of Havok, believing them to be divine beings sent by the god of chaos to purge the world.   Many have come to regard the story as a warning against any people or nation becoming "too big" saying it is a metaphor for how when you have too many people together in one place, that chaos and anarchy are guaranteed, and will cause the fall of those civilizations.

In Art

As it is a well known legend, there have been countless paintings and murals made depicting the Darkstar Prince in one way or another, though not always accompanied by his followers. One such mural hangs in the Deos Art Gallery in Kyrennia. Supposedly, the Clergy of Chaos has multiple art pieces depicting the Lords of Havok.
