Dragonborn were first created as a hybrid combination between dragons and humans. Their histories in Eraterna have been long and storied. Dragonborn can be found all over the world, adventuring and questing with various parties. Draconic heritage manifests in a variety of traits you share with other Dragonborn.

Topaz Dragonborn Traits

Dragon Damage Type Breath Weapon. Necrotic 15 ft. Cone (Dex. save) (DC = 8 + Constitution Modifier + Proficiency Bonus)
Breath Weapon. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of magical energy in a 15-foot Cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d10 damage of the type associated with your Chromatic Ancestry. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage. This damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10).
  • You can use your Breath Weapon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Damage Resistance. You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry (Necrotic).
Psionic Mind. You can telepathically speak to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. You don’t need to share a language with the creature, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.
Gem Flight. Starting at 5th level, you can use a bonus action to manifest spectral wings on your body. These wings last for 1 minute. For the duration, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed and can hover. Once you use this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.

Racial Options

There are a few options to make your character fit the ideas you may have. The Ability Score Increase, Size, and even Languages can all be customized to better fit your character's history. Maybe you come from a very hardy people, like the Dwarves, but your character can't handle even the slightest cold breeze, but they make up for it with their incredible intellect. You could have been born of the tall and long Elves, but you find yourself barely coming up to some of their hips. Your Goblin may have been adopted by a couple of loving Genasi and they taught you to speak Primordial instead of Goblin. The options listed under your chosen race are just suggestions to easily fit your character within their culture's society, but you can change things up to make your character truly yours. There may be limitations set by the DM; rarely will you find a Large Fairy or a Tiny Goliath, but if you have a good story-driven reason for different character options, anything can be possible. Below are open-ended options for customizing your race.   Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1.
Size. Your size is within one size option of your race's average size.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.
