Clan Starlight
Clan Starlight occupies the Northern tip of the Central mountain range of Ioban. The Clans patron choosing these peaks for how they aligned with the stars to observe their movement. Clan Starlight has always held a fascination with the movement of the stars and have several great observatories in their mountain domain. Similar to Sparkle, Starlight has left much of the regional politics to neighboring clans Amaranthis and Aurete. The vassals of Starlight like most Crystal clans handle most the day to day operations with well established aristocratic families holding control of their territories while Dragon Lords concerned themselves with the Stars above and the wealth of their hoards.
Structure
As is with Crystal Dragons, the daily running of their realm falls to their vassals who have established an entrenched set of noble families who rule in the name of the Dragon Lords. The Dragon Lords of Starlight favor signs for which their vassals are born under, believing these to be great portents for their own future thru their Kindred. The Noble Families tend to try and time births to gain favor with their lords and ensure their continued position, these contests between Noble Families tend to be clandestine and political in nature, causing as few visible issues among the Clan as possible.
Culture
Clan Starlights culture revolves around the movement of stars and planets in the sky. Many decisions made based on the answers from above. Vassals will see great potential in signs from above often dictating momentous life choices and paths to pursue. While these signs may seem a bit backward to many on the outside, these readings tend to lead Clan Starlight down paths of enjoyment and fulfillment. Members of the Clan have a love for knowledge and understanding.
Public Agenda
Clan Starlight maintains a strong self defense force to dissuade conflict from the neighboring clans of Dark Grove and Winds Fury. These two aggressive forces tend to be at odds with Starlight. As a result the Clan frequently backs Amaranthis and supports the council for its own preservation and security. Since the quieting the Vassals have been carefully balancing promises and negotiations with their neighbors to ensure their lords domains remain intact.
Assets
The Central mountains are rich with Adamantium, Iron, and other rare metals, Clan Starlight maintains a strong mining force to extract these resources. They also have some of the most advanced telescopes in the world to watch the movement of stars and planets.
History
During the first Dragon War Clan Starlight aided the chromatic clans to regain much of their territory lost to Winds Fury expansion. In the succeeding dragon wars Starlight maintained a more neutral stance predominantly interested in their own safety.
Demography and Population
Starlight favors moon elves or elves with psionic ancestry as their vassal kindred, and they make up a majority of clan Starlight(55%). The Clan in the age of wonder also found the expertise of dwarves useful for mining the resources of their chosen home. The Dwarves are treated as second class citizens however by most of the clan(20%). As their territories were threatened by rivals they found the military strength of Orcs(10%) to also be of value. Orcs tend to hold prominent positions within the clans military might, but do not lead. Half dragons(15%) are beloved among the elven houses of Starlight and are treated as equals of their elven kin.
Military
Clan Starlight maintains a small but elite military force used predominantly as a defensive force. While not numerous they are well trained, most serving the Clans Military for decades if not centuries.
Agriculture & Industry
Clan Starlights primary industry comes from the mining and refining of rare earth metals. Several mountain valleys are also held as agriculture centers, using advanced farming techniques to gain enough yield to support their civilization.
Infrastructure
Clan Starlight has a series of tunnels and roads that twist along the northern mountains allowing easy access between several of their defensive fortification and look out towers to keep watch over their domain.
When all is Darkest
- Knowledge of the Stars: Members of the Clans frequent study of the heavens make them talented navigators and with a strong understanding of magic and the heavens. Gain a +2 racial bonus to Geography, Planes, and Arcana
- Astrological Fortune: Members of the Clan use the movement of the Stars and Planets to find good fortune and favor. Once per day they may gain a +1 Luck bonus to any d20 roll of their choice. This may be decalred after the roll but before the results are declared.
