Clan Sparkle
Clan Sparkle takes its name from the glittering Gem mines their founding matron claimed in the North Western mountains of Ioban. Clan Sparkle has very much abdicated responsibilities of the region to the Neighboring clans of Amaranthis and Radiance. As these are more powerful clans of more dominant Dragon Kin, Sparkle has been content to manage their domain and leave most surrounding affairs to others. They have been strong supporters of the Council Ary and often volunteer to aide in the training of young hatchlings to hunt in the wilds.
Structure
Like most Crystal Dragons, Clan Sparkles Draconic Lords take little interest in the day to day affairs of their realm. A well established hierarchy of aristocracy and nobility has been established within Clan Sparkles Vassals. The prominent families tending to supply Kindred to the Dragons and they continue the management of the realm. While many families vie and compete for prestige and power, this goes on mostly unnoticed by the Draconic Lords they wish to impress. When Vassal rivalries grow too serious however the Dragon Lords can often crack down on their wayward Vassals, as such things are tedious and boring and they do not care for the drama. The quieting has at first had little impact on Clan Sparkle like most other Crystal Clans. While the immediate kindred have fallen to slumber with their Dragon Lords, their heirs and non bonded siblings were quick to sieze power. As time goes on however, Clan Sparkles various noble families are beginning to fracture as there is no one to curb their ambitions.
Culture
Clan Sparkle is a fairly open and progressive society, encouraging free thought and experimentation. The fun loving spirit of the Dragons of Sparkle finds joy in set backs, failures, and mistakes, seeing them as happy accidents and learning moments. While the most prominent figures of Clan Sparkle manuver and scheme to increase their own standings, the majority of the population persues their passion and joys with little concern for what happens beyond the spired castle walls of their city, or even within the tops of the spires where Lords scheme and plot.
Public Agenda
Sparkle tends to follow Amaranthis's lead and are strong supporters of the Council. These two stances have allowed them to keep minimal military forces and develop a strong culture of artistic expression. They prefer to live in peace and explore self expression and experience.
Assets
The rich gem deposits of Sparkle is the primary source of their wealth. The vast caverns and gem vains sparkle with Diamonds, White Sapphires, Goshenite, Moissanite, and Clear Quartz. The clan also has an expansive network of skilled gem cutters who craft these magnificent stones into some of the greatest gems on Eraneth.
History
Clan Sparkle mobilized their meager but talented military forces to aide in the defense of the Ary and to ensure their Gem mines remained secure during all three major conflicts, but did not egnage directly for either faction. Clan Sparkle did earn the neighboring Clan Radiance ire when they supported Amaranthis in sabotaging some of their war efforts.
Demography and Population
Clan Sparkle found a joy in the companionship of Moon Elves, but also had a need of great miners and gem cutters. Their populations are fairly mixed with Dwarves, Gnomes, and Elves(20% each). They also found a great joy and amusement in Goblins and have several warrens of Goblins(10%) within their domain. At first a harmless and amusing addition, the goblins have been slowly integrated over the millennia but still cause problems from time to time, when their populations in the city grow to large they have been known to spill out into the forests. Clan Sparkles fun loving attitude and desire for personal exploration and freedom have lead to a large population of halfdragons(30%) as well over the millennia's.
Technological Level
Their gnomeish and goblin citizens have created many a crazed contraption to help alleviate their infrastructure woes. Massive mechanical gondolas can be found connecting various peaks and regions of the domain, allowing for rapid transport of goods and people over the most treacherous of regions with only a few accidents now and again.
Agriculture & Industry
Clan Sparkle trades for much of their vassals food needs, having few areas to farm. Food production comes from fishing in the sea or subterranean products internally and trade with Amaranthis and Solitude.
Infrastructure
Outside of their primary city there is little infrastructure in the great mountains of Clan Sparkle. Goat paths and trails wind thru the mountains to their neighbors but they are dangerous to traverse and slow to move trade goods.
When all is Darkest we Still Sparkle
- Artistic Freedom: Due to the Clans cultural liberalism a wide variety of artistic expression is found and encouraged. Members of the clan may gain a +2 racial bonus to any 2 Perform, Artistiry, or occupation skill.
- Psionic Permiation: The frequent introduction of Psionic genetics to their vassal pool have left a great many of psionically sensitive vassals of the realm. If not a psionic class they gain a psionic focus and may learn a single Level 0 Talent. If they are a psionic class they may gain an additional set of psionic points equal to their Charisma mod and an additional level 0 Talent.
