Clan Sea Spray

Clan Sea Spray occupies the eastern central coast of Ioban, it is a rocky and craggy reef, treacherous for ships, and known for its large crashing waves, where the clan takes its name sake. The clan has suffered economically as the more fertile fields and forests of their northern holdings were usurped by Winds Fury, however the primary resource of the clan comes from its reefs and the sea. The clan has used this incident to highlight further reason that only itself can be trusted, as the Council has done nothing to help.

Structure

Sea Spray is a clan of strong familial relations. The eldest of a dominant line always rules the clan and prominent families maintain their relation to their dragon lords to ensure their positions. The families of the vassals do tend to vie for favor and privliedge, it is usually in small petty matters, so as not to be responsible for harming the clan in practical fact.

Culture

The clan is very close to the sea, many of the Dragons lairs existing as underwater castles, magically enclosed to provide oxygen and normal movement. With a reverence for the sea, the clan are good stewards of the waters, harvesting in harmony with the tides and the reefs cycles. Sea Spray is highly mistrusting of outsiders and feels they have been slighted repeatedly by the Council and their Neighbors.

Public Agenda

Sea Spray was rocked hard by the quieting, while the families were in a position to pick up where the now slumbering Kindred left off, their was insecurity upon who would rule and lead, along with some more bitter infighting. With this resolved the clan looks for its survival, expecting attack from all sides at any moment. It is rumored that a few ambitious families are also keen to reclaim lost lands to be rewarded when their lords wake.

Assets

The great reef provides corals, pearls, muscles, and fish. The hills have deposits of irons and other base metals making sea spray a prosperous territory. They also have connections with many underwater creatures, having allies in Tritons and others of the deep.

History

Clan Sea Spray has always been the target of enemies during the Dragon Wars, or so they would tell you. As a result their forces have found themselves embattled against Chromatic and Metallic clans alike, having an especial animosity towards Winds Fury and Dark Grove. Outside the Dragon wars, Sea Spray has been a reluctant memeber of the council and a critic of its inability to enforce its ideology.

Demography and Population

Sea Spray favored Gnomes(25%), Elves(25%), and Humans from the Faenir Islands(20%) among their vassals. They also found dwarves were of high skillmanship but they do not make up large swaths of the populace due to their general dislike of the sea(10%). Half Dragons(20%) comprise another large segment of the population, and a several communities of Tritons beneat the waves.

Agriculture & Industry

The primary production of the clan comes from the Sea and its bounty. Their reef is judicially harvested for muscles, clams, and other delicacies, with the nearby ocean harvested for fish. On land their hill side mines produce base metals which are worked along with the coral and pearls of the sea into many unique treasures.

Infrastructure

The Clan has a strong teleportation network to move from their coastal cities, hillside holdings and underwater palaces.

  • Aquatic Tradition: Used to swimming and being at sea, members of the clan gain a +2 Racial bonus to Athletic checks when swimming and any profession checks relating to the sea.
  Magical Trait
  • Listen to the Sea: Members of the Clan have gained the ability to commune with the sea. This Works as the Speak with Water talent from the Nature Sphere. It always treats the caster as CL 1 and can only be used once per day. If they have the nature sphere, they do not gain the Speak with Spirit Talent, but may use this spell as tho they have.
