Clan Dark Grove

Clan Dark Grove claimed the north eastern woods of Ioban in the age of wonder, twisting and turning the great oaks to their will, creating an unnatural forest scape for any who venture with in. Some of their territory was lost to Cloudwalker in the Second Dragon war. This land now stewarded by Clan Moonfrost is ever on Dark Groves mind for reconquest. Aside from this the clan harshly defends its borders, ever changing the twisting maze of the forest to confound any who venture here who should not.

Structure

Clan Dark Grove favors a strong feudal structure and matriarchal leadership whenever possible. While most dragons clan do not mingle their vassal with their dragon kin families, all vassals are considered both the property and members of specific Draconic families within the clan. This can often lead to problems within Dark Grove where the malicious intent of one family impedes the other at the Clans expense.

Culture

All vassals of Dark Grove are property, only the bravest, most cunning and most useful can gain measures of freedom and autonomy within the families of the Clan. This pushes the vassals to achieve great heights to gain the attention of their lords and potentially even their Dragon Masters. The lowest members of their clan simply strive to not incur the wrath of any of their betters.

Public Agenda

Since the quieting, Clan Dark Grove has made no secret their intent to reclaim lost territory from Moonfrost, engaging in several border skirmishes and probing raids in the years since to test their defenses and prepare for open war. The clan has paid lip service to the remains of the Ary in an attempt insure stability on their other borders.

Assets

Dark Groves greatest asset is their command of nature magic, to shape the woods of their domain into a natural wonder, or perhaps horror. Dark twisted trees ensure an ever gloom resides over the woods, so that even during the height of summers days, the woods seem dusk like.

History

Dark Grove command a large swath of territory in the north and were constantly fighting with Clan Cloudwalker. As the Dragon wars raged on, the Silver Dragons pushed against Dark Grove, who expected aide from nearby Vermillion in their defense. Finding no help from their Chromatic kin, much territory and great losses were incurred. Even the territories won to the south from the Silicate clans there were lost as a result, and so Dark Grove has sworn vengeance against the Silvers as much as the Reds.

Demography and Population

Clan Dark Grove favored Snow Elves(40%) above other vassal types early in the age of Wonder. They have however found use in Humans(20%) and Goblins(15%) as well for their armies and cheap labor. Half Dragons make up the remaining 15% of their population. Clan Dark Grove also has a large number of Kobolds(10%) in their direct service.

Agriculture & Industry

Clan Dark Grove gains the majority of their food from the forests, having the forest formed to their will they create pockets of well lit fields, canopied groves for animals to graze, and a wide variety of lumber and rare fauna from the woods.

Infrastructure

To the outsider Dark Grove territory is a haunting forest, however to its inhabitants there are great forest paths, magical by ways, and a variety of unique methods of travel.
