Firbolgs

Soft-spoken giants of the forest, the Firbolgs emerged from the woodlands at the same time as the Elves and are a rare but curious sight in the frozen taiga of Kar Vreld, the beautiful forests of Valderia and the prehistoric jungles of Ezzuth alike.    Though seemingly cut of the same fey stock as the Elves, and possessed of perhaps even more mysterious powers, the Firbolg are less otherworldly, being grounded in their reverence for the primal forces of nature. Though kindly to those they meet, the Firbolg brook no transgression by outsiders. Those who rouse the fury of these gentle giants have much to fear from their prodigious strength and the subtle, powerful magics at their command.   Firbolgs have a curious fascination with the civilized ways of other people, but struggle to understand such concepts as warfare, agriculture and industrialization, which they see as simply unnecessary or even self-destructive. Music, dance, and storytelling are of great interest to the Firbolg, for these are the means by which their own traditions are recorded and passed on; they are always intrigued by such displays from others.    Firbolgs do not see any difference between 'people' and 'animals'; indeed they tend to treat all living things as if they were fully sapient, oft to the confusion of those around them. There is simply no logic to a Firbolg in such an artificial distinction. Firbolgs tend to be more reclusive than some of the other races due to their discomfort with the boisterous and fast-paced lifestyle of other peoples, but as a relatively mild-mannered folk they tend to be welcome where they do tread outside the woods.
