The Light Hunters
Structure
The Hunters are divided into cells to safeguard their mission against any follower of Taika who wishes to try and stop them. The cells are fairly limited in size, usually less than 30 members. They also limit the areas they work in. The size of the areas varies depending on how populated the area is. Some cells operate in just a single city and its outlying areas, while some work across an entire kingdom.
Each cell is part of a larger group, lead by a Listener. Each Listener leads a council with each cell leader. While the Listener knows who all of the cell leaders are, and the capabilities of each cell, the cell leaders don't know each other. This is to further safeguard the organization. The group councils in turn averages around 6 members, including the Listener.
The Listener has its own cell as well, though it operates differently. It doesn't do offensive actions, rather it gathers information and provides recruits for the other cells. The Listener is responsible for listening to information and rumours and passing it on to the members who need the information. With this, the Listener also co-ordinates the cells which are part of its group.
All Listeners are part of the council which guides the Light Hunters. The council is lead by the Voice of Aegle. There is not a single individual who knows all of the members.
There are a few specialized groups. Among those, there is one focused on reviewing texts to see if it needs to be burned, or if it can be preserved. Another one is focused on keeping the organization safe. Its members don't know each other, as they are scattered and hidden in the other groups, to spy for deviant behaviour.
Public Agenda
Their doctrine decrees that any use of magic is an affront to the natural order of the world, and as such must be purged from existence. If they could, they'd remove magic from existence.
Artifacts and relics should be destroyed so as to prevent their corruption from spreading. The simple reason for this is that as they are forged using magic, so given that, in the eyes of the Light Hunters, they spread the foul corrupting energy of Taika.
Anyone aiding a follower of Taika is clearly corrupted by her, and as such must be purged. If the individual aided the follower unknowingly, the Light Hunters want to save them. And to the Hunter, the best way to save them is to bathe the individual in purifying light and send them to the hereafter. This a mercy in the eyes of the Light Hunters. However, if the individuals willingly and knowingly aided a follower of Taika, no mercy is to be shown. Either a swift death if the risk is deemed to be too high, or if possible capture them and make them see the error of their way, confess and go to the hereafter having apologized and embraced Aegle.
The Hunters often burn texts which they deem to contain tainted information. This includes all texts regarding magic and which contain information about Taika. This, however, comes into conflict when said text includes information about Aegle. In those cases, the text is passed up into the organization and ends up in a specialized group dedicated to dealing with questionable texts.
History
The Light Hunters were formed by one of the disciples of Diodoros, who after seeing him die swore vengence of Taika and everything related to her. He slowly started to gather followers. Soon, he led an army of zealots. They started to strike out against anything they deemed to be related to Taika.
This, however, didn't last. They attacked a cult, which worshipped Taika, who didn't go down easily. After a great battle, the cult was wiped out, but the Light Hunters were almost exterminated as well. When they knew that they would lose the battle, the cult had retaliated and killed most of the leadership.
The remaining leadership gathered to decide on their future approach. They decided to scale down their operation and start to work in smaller groups. It was also at this point they decreed that the groups would have minimal knowledge of the other groups to reduce the risks of being wiped out.
Currently, most of the member that are recruited are either zealots who already following Aegle or individuals who have suffered because of magic. This is however done in secrecy to avoid detection from outside entities.
