Homebrew Subclasses
The following subclasses have been homebrewed for Campaigns set in the world of Eqiros.
Artificer - Timethief
For those that pursue the magic of arcane technology, no area of study is too dangerous. Perhaps against better judgement, some choose to experiment with Chronomancy, the magic of time. Known as a Timethief, these artificers are marked by their signature Unwinding Clocks, wondrous tools they use to steal moments of time.
Barbarian - Path of the Warchief
For Warchiefs, leadership is taught through battle. Years of rigorous studying and training in the art of war means nothing if one isn't capable of maintaining control on the deafening and chaotic battlefield. Those who can, however, quickly see themselves becoming Warchiefs, commanding their warbands in skirmish after skirmish.
By earning the trust of their companions through the blood of their foes, Warchiefs instill awe and terror on the battlefield. Though lacking in formal military training and bearing, they make up for this through sheer force of will and conviction. A Warchief never goes into a fight fearing defeat, and even when all seems lost, a single war cry can change the course of history.
Bard - College of Colours
While most bards have what many consider 'colourful' personalities, some bards are quite literally manifestations of this trait. These bards diversify their musical talents with the most colourful of arts: painting. Whether through the use of brushes dripping with rainbows of thick paint or with quill and ink, these masters of illustration inspire with beautifully vibrant colour combinations.
Cleric - Love Domain
There are no gods who represent love in its entirety. Yet Clerics of love exist. This discipleship instead understands the many forms that love exists, finding them represented through various gods, some more directly than others. Whether through the life of Elari, domesticity of Halafai, passion of Gya'na or springs of Lithi, clerics of love understand what binds them all together, a desire to foster and nurture love in the world. Followers of this domain strive for the same thing, and in doing so foster love wherever and whenever they find it. They perform marriages, assist in childbirth, and encourage kindness always.
Clerics of love understand love takes many forms: the matron, the parent, the protector, the shelter. Most importantly, it provides a sense of strength and comradery in any group lets love enter and foster relationships.
Druid - Circle of Frost
While most people connect druids with seasons of spring and summer; full of wildlife and greenery, Druids from Circles of Frost understand that there is life in the cold too, that winters must be shepherded and cared for as much as the other seasons. These wintery sentinels harness the powers of the frigid tundras, sometimes making direct contact with the winter courts of the fey.
Fighter - Corsair
With blade and flintlock in hand, the corsair lives and breathes for three things: swords, guns and the sea. Perhaps you learnt the skills working the decks of the Ivory Navy's ships, perhaps you sought to make a name for yourself as a pirate roaming the Stillwater sea. Perhaps you learnt the art from Astri Lohne herself, Pirate Queen of the Sapphire Fleet. Regardless, Corsairs utilise a masterful combination of deft footwork and weaponry to strike at the hearts of their enemies. Their skills have been widely adopted, particularly by scoundrel types who seek practicality and adaptability in their fighting style.
Corsairs can be found in every corner of the world, from busy city streets to high seas and every environment in between. They thrive in chaos, always bringing a tool for the job and adapting to unpredictible encounters.
Monk - Way of the Iron Mountain
The mere mention of monks often evoke thoughts of lean, quick individuals who somersault, dart and bamboozle their foes with various brands of acrobatics. However, some monks eschew such tactics in favour of honing their spiritual and physical prowess. Drawing upon the power of the earth and stone beneath their feet, monks who follow the Way of the Iron Mountain are stalwart defenders of their allies and communities, enduring and countering attacks that would otherwise drop weaker individuals.
Paladin - Oath of the Valkyrie
Paladins of the Oath of the Valkyrie have sworn to defend Valkyr with their lives and have, in return, been provided with a set of mechanical wings. These Valkyries serve as a mix of soldier and law enforcement, patrolling the halls of the Ludhinholt during times of peace and taking up arms in times of war.
While not all Valkyries are paladins - the ranks are bolstered by many a wizard, cleric, and artificer - the Paladin Corps make up the majority of those who serve daily to preserve peace and foster goodwill among civilians. These elite ranks were once reserved exclusively for women, but the Corps has in recent decades shifted its policy to include those who are capable. Paladins who take this oath must both be effective in combat and skilled in diplomacy for law enforcement requires the trust of the population to function.
Note: When choosing this subclass, you must choose the Valkyrie Cadet as your character background in the character builder.
Ranger - Lightkeeper Conclave
For eons, mortals feared the dark and its many dangers. Originating in human societies, the Lightkeeper conclaves dedicated themselves to defending civilisation against creatures that lurk in the gloom. Each nursing a flickering ember, they stand as torches that burn against the night; a righteous flame against the monstrous and vile.
Rogue - Daredevil
Most people try to live their lives as safely as possible, doing their best to avoid risky situations and minimise danger. Even most rogues use their mastery of stealth and sleight of hand to avoid conflicts. However, there are a few rare individuals who seek out adrenaline pumping situations, living for that rush that comes with near-death experiences.
Calling themselves daredevils, these rogues go out of their way to justify risky situations that send adrenaline coursing through their veins. Preferring to leap from rooftop to rooftop rather thank skulking in alleyways, they develop a knack for avoiding what for most would be certain death.
Sorcerer - Corrupted Soul
When your spark of magic ignited within you, a part of it attached itself to your very being before being warped by dark forces. Perhaps a powerful witch laid a dying curse upon the area in which you were born. Perhaps a malevolent lord desecrated the region with, twisting the landscape and distorting the powerful magics within. Whatever energies affected you, they have crept into your soul, permanently darkening your magical power.
Warlock - The Antiquarian Patron
Knowledge is the sole craving of your patron. An entity who has studied, observed, and chronicled the many eons of the world, to such an extent that they have gained an almost unparalleled understanding of all things. However, this unstoppable lust for knowledge can never be quenched. Therefore, these entities readily make pacts with those on the mortal plane, who act as instruments of learning and seekers of knowledge to be recorded. Merely being connected to such a being imparts great knowledge and insight. But be warned, this connection may impart the same inescapable lust to know more.
Wizard - School of Hemomancy
While blood magic is not strictly forbidden in Eqiros, many students of the arcane still consider the practice a taboo one. However, there are inevitably those undeterred by the grisly pursuit that soon discover the raw power that can be found blood, power that can be used to fuel their pursuit of power, no matter the cost.
Practitioners of Hemomancy are not always evil, though many are widely misunderstood. Some practice their craft as a means to end end, whether to save others or defeat the villainous. Yet thanks to its perception among the public, many who pursue this study are forced to mark their own path quite literally with their own blood, experimenting and crafting their own hemomancies while following a common ethos: power always comes at a price.
