Junilite Tower
One of three ruined hill forts known collectively as the Three Younger Brothers that predates the 4th century. Junilite Tower is approximately 50 miles west of Dragonsfell in the foothills of the Cloudfire mountain range. JuniliteVillage is half a mile from the tower. According to the archaeologist, the current village covers one-tenth of the land occupied by the settlement that once surrounded the tower.
This particular tower is unusual in that the town surrounding it has survived. No one is exactly sure why the tower was abandoned when it was, as there is little sign of war and the stonework is mostly intact.
Architecture
It is a typical building for the time, comprising a four-story square tower built of stone with a two-story annex. The annex contained a great hall on the first floor with storage vaults and a well on the ground floor, with the main living quarters on the third and fourth floors of the tower.
Today the roof and floors are missing, leaving it open to the elements, making it an excellent home for wildlife. Holes for floor joists have become home to nesting birds, and ivy has claimed the walls. The carved stonework is still visible over the doorway arches and in the fireplaces, although the plasterwork is completely gone.
The tower used to contain a comprehensive collection of wooden outbuildings. The buildings are now entirely gone, leaving only the holes where their main support beams were situated. Foundations for walls encircle the whole site, and evidence for a second wall enclosing the village is prominent. The gatehouse still exists in full as a working building, but the gate and portcullis have been removed. Locals use it as a storage facility for goods travelling to Dragonsfell .
