Hall

History

This is the way the people meet and recognise each other as a community. It origninally started as a meeting of the whole community and still holds this function to debate their current issues however over time it has come to include dancing as well.

Execution

Everyone will arrive at the agreed upon time and enter the village hall where the events are held. Once everyone is gathered the elders will enter along with any children who are coming of age to be presented to the community. Once they have been welcomed then the children are allowed to join the other children at their "little hall" which is usually just a dance supervised by the older children.
Then comes out the call for those coming of age to present themselves to the elders, this is an important occassion for the young people as it is the first time they will enter the hall as an equal.
After that, they call for those courting, the couples line up begining with the newest couple and ending with those who have completed the seven halls required and are declaring their intention to marry.

When this has been done, they will discuss any pertinant issues and then the dancing can begin. After this point people can leave at any time they wish but many stay late into the night.

Participants

The entire community attends these events as long as they are able. Children usually stay in a smaller side room being watched by the older children and doing their own dancing and talking until they fall asleep.
Adults participate in the discussions and dances of the main hall, observing the welcomings of new members. When individuals have been away for a while they will often be re-welcomed into their community at the halls.
The village elders are the ones who preside over the halls and keep order during the more formal sections.

Observance

These take place every one to two weeks depending on the specific village.
