Smelly Swamp Business

611 AU, Flordag (4th day) in the First Galend of Maruth (day 94 of the year, 4th day of Sword in the month of the Stag Dragon Isles calendar)   The previous night Uoret claims he had a dream that there was a Manor House in a swamp that smelt really bad and had people guarding it. When he woke up he knew that it was south and east of the town.   Setting out early in the morning the PCs row their boat up the river and into the swamplands of Lake Altau. As they progressed through the swamp Uoret points to a branch with a piece of cloth and is confident it is a marker used to navigate through the swamp. The team continues up the river and as dusk approached the team finds another marker and a small secluded beach which looks like it has been used recently.   The PCs use the path from the beach that heads up into the swamp. Carefully progressing up the trail they eventually see a Manor house and they have approached it from behind, and it smells horrible. The grounds surrounding the house are covered in a tiny purple flower.   Llied climbs up onto the roof of the back part of the house, meanwhile Uoret and Gwen approach the back door. They quietly open the back door and see someone cleaning up after a meal. Gwen quickly uses a magic spell to turn herself invisible and enters the kitchen, with Uoret following close behind and Llied and Flarty next.   A battle ensues with the occupants, Uoret quickly dispatches two hunters (critical hits to the chest on both of them) While Gwen tries to sleep the person working in the dining hall. The tables of the hall are covered in jars and bottles and things bubbling/boiling and smelling really bad.   Then a priest of Shogaluth comes down the stairs with two guards and a second battle begins and ends almost as quickly with all of their enemies dead or dying.   A search of the place reveals several items of importance. Flarty finds a shield that was covered up in the stables, and is in like new condition. Gwen finds some very old books amongst the rubble that was once a library. One of the books is on plants and shows the purple flower found in the grounds of the Manor in it. There are various letters found in the desk of the priest as well as ingredients on the table in the dining hall as well as the poison and what is understood to be the antidote for the poison. There are of course the weapons and small amounts of money found on the bodies. Latly there was a holy relic on a necklace worn by the priest.   The PCs take all of these items and return to Garabas where they share the antidote with the Knight Commander as well as Principal Dawid Nazar of the College of Light in Garabas.   Gwen gifts the College with the two books that were found and as a result is given a letter of Boon; letting her fees for the following year to be waived and that other Principals should acknowledge the contributions Gwen has made to the Kyngdom and the betterment of the Esoteric Arts.     Continues ...
