Carninsby

The village is fairly small, just over 50 households. The Caer is a large manor house high on top of a motte with a wooden bailey protecting any approach to the hilltop. Alongside the manor house is a mead hall for the warriors to drink and feast and sleep in. Serr Gurum Comey is the cousin of B’ran Siarl Comey who is the clan chief. Serr Gurum has 50 warriors who are sent out in troops of 10-12 men that patrol the road between Carninsby and the copper and tin mines located on clan land between Harsey and Boromax.   Both the smiths and the cartwright are too busy to talk to anyone.   There are 2 blacksmiths (very busy helping to prep the caravans), a cartwright (also busy helping to prep caravans) and a woodcrafter, a weaponsmith, an armourer, a pair of foresters and 2 mills (one windmill is just outside of town and the watermill is just west of the docks where the local stream joins the estuary. There are cows and sheep and only a handful of peasant farmers.   The Warriors tend to do their drinking in the Manor houses mead hall.   The wharf is usually busy loading a cargo ship with ingots of tin and brass. And just outside the gates of the small village is a marshalling area for caravans, with numerous carts either waiting to be loaded from the ships or simply in various states of diss-repair.

Guilds and Factions

Mostyn Bivin The armourer is pleasant and welcoming, with completely forgettable looks. Has standard fare at standard prices with nothing exceptional available. There is not enough time to fit anything like chain mail to a character (it could be done in a couple of weeks).   Ceri Blethen The weaponsmith is a gruff mannered man in his early 30’s with a heavy set and ruddy complexion albeit having an accommodating personality who has an exceptional Dirk (+1) and War Axe (+1) available at above normal market prices. Ceri speaks with a slashing throaty voice. He knows it's a sellers market this side of the estuary. And he is rather proud of his work and results.

Points of interest

Postulate Virgil Rothenza of Urto   Attends to a small chapel in the center of the village. Virgil has been posted here for over 5 years, originally from southern Urtind near the border of Vinlon and tends towards being overly optimistic. Virgil speaks with a high pitched wringing voice. He knows nothing about Sister Garaele in Jaileen beyond that she traveled through here 2 years ago and seemed to be a hopeful and inspirational person. As for Serr Comey, Virgil knows him and provides guidance as requested and is concerned due to his intermittent commitment to Urto faith and needs to attend church more often unlike Lady Comey and their children who come for every service.   Nia Vaughn Is the village Druid.   She is a strikingly beautiful woman in her early thirties. Nia speaks with a dry gliding voice with a Marches accent.. Her concern and care is for the villagers health and well being. She is very knowledgeable about the surroundings and the herbs you would find should you search the area near the village, less so as you stray further north or closer to Darken. Great healer and mender of broken spirits.. Her closest friend is Anwin Gower who has never agreed to settle down and have children because they are too busy. There are several taverns in the village:   Llew Rhostir is both an Inn and a tavern and is most likely the one any PCs will be staying at. It tends to be frequented by the caravan merchants and their guards as well as the local freeman artisans (the woodcrafter and armourer are regulars) usually there is a musician playing during dinner and early evenings. Oswald Corbyn is the 42 year-old proprietor of the Llew Rhostir and has owned this business for over 10 years. Speaks with a pressing voice. He came here around the time that King Karonus Ursine was crowned. After both of his parents died Oswald thought he was fleeing the plague and had heard that the Marches were safe, but arrived here and found out they were just as bad off. He worked the docks of the village for a while and then worked the caravans until he met his wife in Selmerron. Oswald used his money from guarding caravans and adventuring to build this inn after first securing Serr Comey's permission. It doesn’t hurt that Oswald and Gurum Comey have had several adventures together over the years before Gurum settled down and became the Serr of Caer Carninsby. The couple's teenage daughters are the waitresses and their oldest child, a son, is a Warrior in Comey’s Warband. llwynogod Or Ilwy as Oswald calls her, is human but speaks with a breathy floating ‘Darken accent’ voice and is self-conscious of it so rarely speaks when spoken to, instead she will simply nod or quickly say “yes serr” which does not betray her accent. llwynogod is an accomplished cook providing exceptional meals her stews, soups and preserved meats are talked about by all the merchants as well as making extremely good mead and ale. Cooking & Brewing Lvl 7, PSF 63%   The Raging Seas, is frequented by the ships’ crews who are docked overnight and guards of the wagons that carry the ingots from the Boromax mines (there are frequent pick up singing and music here every night). Caerwyn Rease owner of the The Raging Seas is a weather ex-sailor, knows his business and that of many of his patrons. Speaks with a dabbing voice (typical sea captain). He has long straggly greying hair and a nose that looks like it has seen the wrong side of a fist way too many times. Some information only comes at a price. He knows which captains have cargo they don’t claim when they arrive in Garabas and ways to cross the estuary that will go unnoticed.   Badger’s Sett is frequented by the rest of the locals and is much simpler in its offerings (music here tends to be on weekend nights or special occasions and its local to the village musicians who play as best they can). Gwythyr Nest Tavern Keeper of the Badger’s Sett. Gwyther and his wife and children have run the family business since his parents died 5 years ago. Both speak with a dabbing voice with a Marches accent. An institution in the village generations in the making. Fair food, neither he nor his wife learned very well from his mother. Gwythyr bedraggled in looks and his skills, has problems with fermenting and is constantly asking Nia Yaughn for help getting it right. The locals put up with it all since they all know each other and knew and loved his parents. Gwythyr and his wife know everything about everybody, but there are no real deep dark secrets here; other than the innkeeper at the Raging Seas who everyone knows is running contraband and criminals back and forth to Garabas.   Dai & Anwin Gower are Foresters ( who are brothers) both of whom are very handsome twins. The twins speak with a floating voice with a Marches accent. Should either of them be in the village and at the local’s tavern (50% for either one to be there and 10% for them both to be there) they will share their knowledge of the local animals and warn the adventurers about the Wargs that will be along the road since it is the end of the migration so both Wargs and Wolves will be hunting the stragglers. They may also mention that Wyverns can be seen as well but usually only flying overhead since their main prey are the Ceirw Mawr.
