Hassan stood at the helm of his ship, the salty wind ruffling his brown feathers. He narrowed his predators eyes and the golden streaks in his feathers glittered in the sunlight. He scanned ahead with eagle eyes and barked an order. A looming shape among the vast emptiness stared back at him. Hassan flew to the top of the crows nest on wings of steel and roared a battle cry.

Biological Traits

Aavvir are humanoid birds with varying degrees of color. Every Aavvir stands and walks on two legs. They have strong feathered arms and legs. Other than these traits most Aavvir are vastly different.

Facial characteristics

Aavvir have faces that depending on their location resemble different species of birds. Aavvir in Westreach often either resemble owls in their facial appearance or eagles while in the region of Tralkan they either resemble eagles or vultures. In the jungles on the Mercurian Subcontinent it is said there are Aavvir that look like parrots with long beaks and colorful plumes.

Naming Traditions

Though most Aavvir take names from the culture they reside in many are also named in the traditional fashion. These are usually short one syllable sounds. Some common names among them include

Feathers and claws are the most dominant traits of any Aavvir. one is judged by the smoothness and look of their feathers as well as the cleanliness and sharpness of their claws.

Relationship Ideals

Most Aavvir make lifetime partnerships. They are loyal to those they have chosen but before this decision is made they are very free with their connections.

The aavvir speak the language of the people they inhabit but they also all speak a dialect of Auran called Tayir

Common Dress Code

Aavvir don't normally prefer loose fitting clothes that allow for freedom of movement. They like to adorn themselves with rings and bangles on their arms and legs and tufts of fanciful fabric and cloths on their heads.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The Aavvir originaly set themselves apart and lived among themselves but decided that they must take part in the politics of the world and help make a place for themselves. As such they have a slightly more codified culture than other Feravir . They do still however mostly adapt to the culture of their birth and their location.
