The Great Necrilum Purge

Summary

The Old Path had always been viewed by most as a technologically backwards people that foolishly cling to primitive means of living, and most viewed them as a very minor threat. This viewpoint changed and solidified the Old Path's status as one of the major factions after the first of their Necrilum Purges, an event that was spurred on by the Necrilum's aggression towards their people.
After the Necrilum razed the settlement of Goldhill and assimilated the population, nearby settlements of the Old Path gathered together to retaliate and protect themselves; they organized the first (unofficial) Hunter's Lodge. The Hunters bent one of the core tenants of the Old Path's teachings: avoid advanced technology. They forged blades and armor out of the advanced metals found in the technology of the Progenitors that they'd scavenged, and fashioned simple firearms from complete scratch, thus they did not use any of the "advanced technology" forbidden to them. At the time this was fully overlooked in order to push back the Necrilum, and push them back they did.
In what is now known as the Great Necrilum Purge, the Hunters swept through almost the entirety of their lands and purged every single Necrilum hive that they came across. They did this entirely without aid from outsiders, who viewed their rally with suspicions of conflict and kept their own soldiers at the ready. Many of the Old Path were lost in this conflict, yet they stood firm in the aftermath and have recovered beyond their original strength before the Great Purge. Now, the Hunter's Lodge is an established sub-faction of the Old Path, and while they are viewed as borderline outcasts by the rest of their people for the somewhat loose interpretations they hold for what technology they can use, none deny the effectiveness that the Lodge has for hunting down the Necrilum threat.
