Creation Myth
Evidence
There are no documents or testimonies attesting for the veracity of the entire myth, and many parts are altered depending on the story teller. However, the events of the First Era and before generally remain un-modified due to the lack of historical sources contradicting the already established narrative.
Myth
At the beginning, there was nothing. From nothingness was born the Great Serpent, who then gave birth to the planets and the gods of this galaxy. Each planet was nothing more than a vulgar inhospitable rock, and the assigned god - or gods - were closer to squirming fetuses than the divine.
Before the Great Serpent birthed their eggs, however, they used their eyes to create the Gods of Time, who would each be assigned to a planet to ensure its survival, or destruction.
Enies was assigned three gods: Ma, Aleph, and Xyxsa.
Once each egg had hatched, and since none of the deities had their power awakened, the Great Serpent offered themselves to their children. After absorbing the divine power of their parent, the gods were finally able to start shaping their respective planet.
First Era
Ma created continents as well as their fauna and flora, while Aleph made the Primordials, Enies' first humanoïd beings. In secret, Aleph added Malice to his creation, which slowly corrupted them and drove them to experiment on each other, thus creating Prodigals.
Prodigals were Primordial souls chained to mecha-robotic bodies, they were the first tests of Primordials in their quest for perfectly loyal servants. They ended up reaching their goal when they created the Qyarepx, who were totally dependent on them to survive. Prodigals were abandoned on what later became the Umiwari archipelago.
Over a millennium later, the god of Time Xyxsa had made Saegldyr into their messenger, preparing for the impending mass extinction to follow. Up until this point, the roles of day and night had been fulfilled by Ma and Aleph respectively, but when the Great Serpent started their regeneration, all of their children were forcefully pulled into a hibernation-bio-stasis. As day and night had disappeared, many life forms started going extinct, Primordials as well, followed closely by Qyarepx.
The only surviving Primordials were Mebia and Sheshi, who travelled to Saegldyr to sacrifice their lives in order to bring life back on the planet they had grown to love. In exchange for their wish, Mebia became the night, while Sheshi became the day.
Second Era
Aleph woke up first, and while Saegldyr was creating the humans now referred to as Forerunners, he created the first "non-humans", also known as Eres. This time, he made sure to infuse Malice in every single being, which led to a level of aggressiveness never seen before and increased in Eres.
When Ma discovered his doing, the two of them engaged in a nine-century-long war, causing many natural disasters, epidemics, conflicts and famines of all kinds. Multiple groups of people fled the continent, notably to Umiwari and other southern lands.
During their fight, two gods were born: Neisuulew and Mnauwgh' Rhax. Saegldyr, with the remaining energy after the creation of the Forerunners, created the Puqèxa, tasked to warn those chosen by Xyxsa from impeding catastrophes.
The Forerunners, tainted with Malice, attempted to merge with the Flows to become immortal. Ultimately failing, they left behind proto-humans, close ancestors of actual Humans, as well as those called Woyên today.
Tainted with Malice as well, some Puqèxa took intermediate form, later categorized as that of Goblins and the Dwarven ancestors.
Careful to not anger its predecessors, Neisuulew started developing the fauna, flora, and humanoïd species of the East. This land had been protected from the damages of war by its mountain range and fell under the care of this new god, who quickly vested a part of their power into those who became Sekwor, demi-gods or minor gods. In doing so, the goal was to avoid the errors that were made in the West. A trait commonly found in its first creation was that of large size differences, which were corrected with time. Neisuulew settled in the Sacred Mountain in order to stay close to his people, his vassals tasked to guide the believers to him.
Nine centuries of divine conflict later, Aleph's triumph in sealing Ma in the tower of Ai was the start of even darker years, during which the world was plagued by an overabundance of Malice. These years are referred to as the "Evil's Triumph Rule".
Two hundred and forty-five years after Ma's defeat and with the help of Saegldyr, Xyxsa named the Messiah who was going to put an end to this dark era. Guided by the majestic bird Yveltal, the Messiah lit up the brasier atop the tower, freeing Ma. Filled with rage, she destroyed all of Aleph's creations. Both of them weakened, they entered hibernation-biostasis again.
When the migrants from the continent arrived at the Umiwari archipelago, most of the Prodigals exiled there were either dead or in a deep sleep. The discovery of these beings starts a wave of adoration and veneration from the newly settled population. Good weather and protection are attributed to them, greatly benefiting agriculture. After one of them is awoken and chooses Tsukimoto Inukichi as representative, the foundations of the Umiwari Empire are definitively laid down.
Variations
Some elements of the myth have been added or taken out, sometimes even altered to legitimize some religions or power systems. As an example, the Ûkên-i version includes the presence of the Messiah's Nine Companions which became the founders of the nine aristocratic families surrounding the royal family of the kingdom. In Wawtya, on the contrary, Aleph's role is described as that of a savior who was falsely accused. Some sources claim the existence of an Elf seer who would have played a major role in informing the Messiah of their destiny, but few people support it due to the early isolation of these people.
