Physical Description
General Physical Condition
From what is known by her public sightings, Queen Veldera’an is in prime physical condition. She is slender, yet muscular enough to wield enormous weapons like her favorite Montante named “Black Blossom”. The weapon is twice as long as her body, an enormous instrument of death made from the joined spines of the Cordej Republic that ruled her home before she conducted a bloody coup against them. As a final insult to their weakness, she fashioned the weapon to simultaneously represent their spinelessness and the new power that her monarchy wields.
One oddity that attracts attention is her advanced age. Even with the extended life spans of elvish people with sea elf ancestry, she has more than doubled the longest forecasts of life expectancy. Some have theorized if the Roseround Oasis she was baptized in contained some kind of divine power responsible for her elongated life, or if her status as monarch is divinely endorsed. Regardless of what the explanation is, Meydrixius could well live to be 5,000 years old.

Personal history
Meydrixius Valdera'an is a strange figure who defies study in many ways. Much of her early life has been exaggerated by hearsay and rumors that elevate her battlefield prowess to the level of a demi-god. At the same time, much of her later life is shrouded in mystery behind the Jade Gates, where only a select few are permitted passage. She is a highly paradoxical woman who eludes both historical and mythological study, made even more intriguing by her status as monarch of one of the most reclusive societies in all the world.
What is known about her is that she was born in one of the oldest and most historically significant places in Spirix, the Roseround Oasis. Roseround is the original oasis of Aldrané, the site where elves first came together to create civilization within the desert. The oasis is surrounded on all sides by thick briars of healthy, vibrant roses that flourish despite their surroundings. It has always been a place of deep religious, historical, and cultural significance, and rests at the very heart of Aldrané. Few are permitted access to the area, but Meydrixius' parents were both influential members of the Alusha Arenyor, the ancient faith that has revered Thassa since before histories were written. Baptized in those sacred waters, she was, perhaps, meant for greatness from birth.
After this story of her birth, there is virtually nothing known of Meydrixius for almost 300 years. It is known that she was a fighter on the front lines of Aldrané's war with the eastern tribes. According to lore and rumor, she was one of the most fearsome warriors in all of Spirix, regularly engaging dozens of combatants at a time and emerging with a red-dyed blade. It is said that she did battle with Argan, the Blazing on four occasions and bested them thrice.
During a battle of immense importance, the armies of Karusha were forced to retreat back to the Black Citadel and withdraw their support from the frontlines. Meydrixius intended to continue the push and completely destroy what remained of the orcish fighters, but council strategists ordered her and the remaining elvish soldiers to regroup. Command was convinced that the Smokeless retreat was part of a plan to encircle the elvish army. Meydrixius is convinced that this retreat was a fatal stop in momentum that resulted in Aldrané losing the war and failing to annex the rest of Spirix.
Meydrixius was so convinced that this single decision lost the war that when she returned, she began a violent, bloody coup against the sitting leadership of Aldrané. With her mythic status on the battlefield and reputation as an icon, the people quickly rallied behind her to remove the democratically elected representatives they had for centuries and install The Blood Rose as an absolute monarch. Ever since the future of Aldrané has been decided by her and her alone. There are very few people who have ever dealt personally with her, almost all matters of State are entrusted to a council of advisors who themselves receive orders from a single person that works directly with Queen Veldera’an.
Meydrixius’ reputation as a peerless warrior persists to this day, and the rare incidents requiring direct intervention from the crown—the execution of a criminal, the unauthorized immigration of a non-elf, etc.—are the only times she is ever seen by the public. Over time, this has caused division enough to split her public persona among those who do or do not love her. For those that enjoy the reign of Veldera’an, she is the Emerald Queen who has brought great prosperity and trade to their society. To those who abhor her kingdom’s homogeneity and xenophobia, she is the Rotten Rose.
