Elon
A species of winged creatures found within the jungles of Seekliff. They are often tamed to be mounts or beasts of burden.

Basic Information
Anatomy
Elons are large beasts, standing at anywhere from 5 to 6 feet tall at the shoulders. They are quadrupeds; their front legs have paws, while their back legs have talons similar to a bird's. Large bunches of feathers create fans on their hind legs, as well as on the second half of their long tails. Elons are primarily covered in black fur, but they have manes and underbellies that are bright/neon shades of many colors, similar to a parrot. On their heads are two ram-like horns.
Elons often have large, feathered wings; the underside of their wings are brightly colored like their manes, and the upper side is dark like their fur. They have two slitted eyes with no visible sclera. Their noses are similar to rabbits. They usually have no visible ears, but when they do, they are often long and floppy.
Growth Rate & Stages
EGG - Elon eggs take about 60 days to hatch. During this time, they must be kept warm and moist each day, or else they won't hatch on time. The eggs can go long periods of time without warmth and still survive, but they must remain in damp environments.
HATCHLING [Months 0 - 2] - Once an Elon hatches, they are helpless to elements and must be nurtured by parents or caretakers. They can't hunt for themselves, nor can they walk very easily. Although able to walk upon hatching, they're slow and wobbly.

Ecology and Habitats
Elons live in dense jungles. Despite being larger than most native animals, Elons are capable of maneuvering through the jungle with relative ease; in the wild, they are exceptional at flying through dense trees and vines.

They are omnivores, primarily eating berries and fruits while also being opportunistic carnivores.

Domestication
Elons have only recently begun to be domesticated, with the process starting within the past few centuries. They're most commonly used as fast-flying mounts in humid climates. They make poor beasts of burden, as they are lightweight and don't have much strength.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
EYES - Elons have two eyes on their heads, often in shades of green, blue, and red. They're well-equipped to see in dim light, but they cannot see in total darkness.
EARS - Although not typically visible, Elon ears are excellent at hearing. Those without external ears are poor at sensing directional sound, making eared Elons more valuable.
NOSE - Elons don't smell very well, but they're able to sniff out food.
TONGUE - Elons lack the ability to taste things that are sour.
SIXTH SENSE - Elons have a supernatural ability to sense coming storms, making them excellent companions for travelers wishing to avoid storms.
