Jasper Bat

These bats are found exclusively in the ancient Quartz mines in the heart of Eneres. There is no record of who excavated these caves, and no record of the bats until the caverns were rediscovered. The Jasper bat is relatively unremarkable in appearance, with dark brown and grey fur, predominantly black leathery wings with around a 2ft wingspan in adults. However, the shriek of a Jasper Bat is distinguishable from any other sound known to nature. If one bat takes up the defensive shriek, more are likely to follow and whilst blocking the ears can provide some relief in the open, in the deep caves where they reside, the sound has been known to drive a creature insane. Explorers have been found deafened, ears bleeding and nails scraped raw from desparation to find relief from the echoing, brain-addling noise.
