Thal'korath, the Chain-Walker

“That which moves must be bound. That which is bound must be moved.”   Nature of Thal’korath   Thal’korath exists as both guardian and prisoner, a figure who straddles the threshold between the chained and the unchained. He is the keeper of crossings, the witness of forbidden transitions, and the architect of constraints meant to contain the uncontainable.   He was born from the First Law of Consequence—the idea that power must be tethered, lest it devour its wielder. But unlike Aserion, who fixed the stars, Thal’korath walks the liminal places, where choice and fate collide.   Form and Presence   Appears as a tall, shrouded figure bound in rusted, living chains that twist and slither like serpents around him.   Where his feet touch, iron links grow from the ground—often leading nowhere, often leading too far.   His face is obscured by a mask of shifting metal, with multiple eye-slits—none of them aligned.   When he speaks, his voice echoes as if through barred gates and prison walls, hollow and layered.   Domains and Influence   Liminality, Binding, Containment, Bridges, Obedience, Exile, Forbidden Passage   Invoked in rites of binding spirits, sealing portals, swearing unbreakable oaths, and walking between realms   Said to chain things that even the gods feared to touch   Followers and Doctrine   His followers are called the Linkbound, or more secretively, the Warded Walkers   They act as jailors of horrors, keepers of cursed knowledge, and guides across shadow-paths   Many wear chain-veils, walk barefoot across iron pilgrim roads, and never stay in one place long   Their creed:   “To bind is to love. To walk is to obey. To serve is to survive.”   Relics and Anchors   The Chain That Bleeds – A relic that binds anything it touches, but slowly infuses it with the pain of what it holds   The Gate With No Threshold – A doorway that leads to where you were meant to go—but only if you’ve bound what you fear most   The Warden’s Circlet – A crown of interlocking rings that allows the wearer to perceive all who have broken an oath nearby   His Role in the World   It is said Thal’korath walks the Aether itself, reinforcing what remains of the Binding even as it cracks   Some claim that when the Third Fracture occurred, he did not stop it—but recorded it, binding it to memory so that the wound would not worsen   His presence is sometimes felt at crossroads, collapsed planar gates, or prisons that still whisper   Thal’korath’s Paradox   He is a warden who desires escape, a guide who never arrives, a servant of law who questions every chain he forges. Some say that he has never unbound a single thing, and yet he himself is unbound.   “If he breaks his chains, will the world follow?”
