Myrrane, She Who Cups the Flame
“It was never meant to be controlled. Only held. Only cared for.”
Nature of Myrrane
Myrrane is the guardian of potential, the flame that could have become anything—had it not been caged, worshipped, or weaponized. She represents the sacrifice of self to keep the world’s most volatile beauty from consuming all.
She is the Proto-Deity of gentle restraint, living hope, and the unbearable burden of preservation.
While Aserion nailed the stars and Kaavh questioned their right to shine, Myrrane carried their warmth.
Form and Presence
Often depicted as a towering feminine figure with skin like cracked porcelain—veins of fire glowing beneath
Her hands are cupped eternally before her, cradling a blazing ember that never grows and never dims
Her face is hidden behind a delicate iron veil, so that the world may not see the sorrow in her gaze
The hem of her robe smolders eternally, but never burns away—symbol of her endurance
Where she walks, life flourishes briefly, then returns to ash, as if the world is too fragile to receive her warmth for long.
Domains and Power
Preservation, Potential, Sacrifice, Hidden Flame, Unspent Power, Last Chances
Myrrane is not about conquest or correction—she exists to hold the balance, nurture the moment, and burn in place of others
She is invoked in times of desperate hope, final choices, and great acts of selflessness
Philosophy and Worship
Those who venerate Myrrane do not call themselves priests. They are Bearers, or Ashborne
Many speak only in truths when invoking her name, and are known to carry flame in lanterns, never letting it die
A saying among the Bearers:
“What burns in her hands, she keeps from your heart.”
Relics and Sacred Sites
The Ember of Unbecoming – A fire that burns away destiny, leaving only choice
The Lantern That Weeps – Once used in a holy war to hold back an entire army of flame-born horrors. Still cries molten tears
The Hearth of the Last Hour – A shrine where dying souls go to speak their final truths. It is always warm, even in the deepest snow
Her Legacy in the World
After the Binding of the Aether, it was Myrrane who held the last unbound flame—a remnant of pure Aether never shaped into spell or god
Some say her flame still flickers at the edge of the world, guarded by a faceless woman in robes of smoke and memory
Her name is often whispered in lullabies, or etched into childbirth wards, and is present in cremation rites among old bloodlines
Myrrane’s Paradox
She never asked to be worshipped. She only wanted the flame to survive—and for others not to become what she became: the one who could hold it, but never be warmed by it.
