Höepth Mohrindae

The capital city of the Devarisch Dynasty, Höepth Mohrindae is one of the few major dwarven cities built about ground. Settled atop the arid low mountain range, the multi-tier city of geometric sandstone overlooks the hill country beyond and is visible from the Plains of Kareth below.   The Devarisch Dynasty
The Devarisch Hills were settled by King Tagoreth Devarisch I in the year 337 of the Founding Age. He laid the foundations for what would eventually become the city of Höpth Mohrindae in the year 339 after striking an accord with Flame Lord Trajhin II of the fire giants to share the territory between them. Since then, the Devarisch royal family has ruled from this stronghold for nearly three millennia. The current ruler, King Harmon Devarisch V, is regarded as a fair but distant ruler, constantly absorbed in poring over documents of negotiations and turning the region into an intercontinental trade power. Most of the daily business of the royal court is instead handled by his younger brother, the Vizier Edmundt Devarisch VI   Trade and the Economy
Höepth Mohrindae is both a trade hub and a site of craftmanship. The city itself is located next to a gem mine and, together with the gold brought in from other mines in the kingdom, produces a fine array of jewelry and decorative items. The Masters of the city are also known for crafting marvelous arms and armors, and such works as these are often presented as gifts among the aristocracy in many societies throughout Vardell. Much of the country's raw material exports and imports with the upper regions of the continent operate out of Höepth Mohrindae, which also serves as a gateway for travelers seeking permission to pass beyond the borders into the hill country.   Population
Höepth Mohrindae is almost an exclusively dwarven population, the majority of which are of the gold dwarf variety. There are, however, a small number of fire giants who live in the city, most of them having been granted the title of Master and practicing their craft with the dwarves training under them. All other races combined make up a small fraction of the population.   Society & Culture
The city is home to a higher number of noble houses and Masters than the rest of the kingdom. As such, the tenets of traditional dwarven society play a key role in daily life, and principles of honor and integrity are as much a form of capital as material wealth. Seeing physical fitness and sturdiness of mind as core disciplines of being a better craftsman, a better aristocrat, and a better citizen, many of the city's residents study at the Library of Mohrindae and train at one of the Halls of Valor for at least some time of their life. Disputes between citizens that cannot be solved with mediation are often settled with non-lethal duels, witnessed by an audience of peers in a public forum.
