Mirrite
Mirrite is a naturally-occurring metal more commonly found in the mountainous regions of Endhaven and in some plateaus of Damerill. Its reflective nature and green tint make it easy to find, though it is rarely found in single mass quantities, instead often coating the surface of rock or stone like a skin.
The largest source of mirrite is located in Ntsujab Vale in Cloudreach and covers roughly 50,000 m2. It is currently under joint protection by Kelmore and the Tylotian Empire due to being declared a holy site by the Spirit Scions.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Mirrite is a highly-reflective metal, often with a green tint.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Mirrite is naturally reflective and thus a poor conductor of heat. It can become malleable and workable at high enough temperatures, though it may approach 300 degrees before doing so.
Geology & Geography
Mirrite is naturally occurring across most of Endhaven, though it can be found in more concentrated clusters closer to the surface in mountainous regions such as Cloudreach.
History & Usage
Everyday use
Raw mirrite can be used for cooking food quickly in sunny locales by focusing the sun's rays onto the meal. It can also be made into mirrors or glasses for those willing to foot the bill. Some tales circle around villages speaking of mirrite armor, though it's unlikely that it would serve its full purpose of protection without needing costly repairs after every battle.
Hazards
Mirrite only poses a threat to those who mine it, as it becomes very sharp when splintered or cracked. Its reflective properties can also quickly increase the temperature of the surrounding environment, so most mirrite is mined at night to prevent blinding light or heat stroke.
Distribution
Law & Regulation
Mirrite mining is banned in Ntsujab Vale, as the Spirit Scions have paid good money to declare it as a holy site.
