Tyon hubs - what really happens when you teleport?

Tyon hubs are touted by many of the leaders of Endhaven to be a 'revolutionary technology' and 'an extraordinary new way of communication.' Some even claim that we could be seeing the price of tyon hubs brought down so that in a few decades, the working man could go each day from his home in Brightcastle to work the fields in Scappe before stopping to talk to friends in Eruside before heading back home for as little as 3 drahm each month. But I have a question for these portal worshippers. Do they even know where it really goes?

Tyon hubs are cross-continental communication and teleportation platforms that exist along certain patterns of ley lines kept highly secret by the highest-ranked mages of the world, distributed only on a need-to-know basis.

Appearance

Tyon hubs are built on a foundation of heavy stone in a circular formation with a number of smaller circles on its edge, depending on the basic strength of the ley line and the effectiveness of the drawn lines, which are etched into the stone in the center of the largest circle. The central platform often rests within 2 feet above or below the surrounding ground level, whereas the edge circles must be surrounded with more stone and eventually capped off.   The stone used in construction varies between hubs, with hubs in Cloudreach carved out of the mountain's natural rock and hubs in Damerill made out of extracted granite or basalt.

Function

Tyon hubs allow users to teleport to another existing hub or communicate with someone else already at a different hub. The main processes are dealt with by the working mages typically employed by the nearby government, leaving the user to simply specify a place and desire. These mages will pour a colored powder, typically some sort of phosphorous, into the main circle's etched lines that correspond with the other tyon hub, and connect the two. Once the user steps into the outer circle, they will seal the chamber and either wait for it to fill with liquid if they wish to communicate, or simply wait and close their eyes if they wish to travel.

Communication

The chamber will fill with enough teldiue, a specific liquid required for this process, to engulf most of the user's body before they use the rebreather they were given upon entry and concentrate. Done correctly, their vision will give way to a dark environment only featuring the somewhat transparent forms of themselves and their communicator, as well as some shimmering lights that encircle the lower area. They may speak freely, but are unable to physically move around the zone. Once they have finished talking, or once they have run out of time they paid for, they can break concentration and swim up through teldiue or have it drain from around them.

Transportation

The user will walk in place with their eyes closed, often with the protection of a provided blindfold which is required by some Tyon hubs, and eventually will lose consciousness while still walking forward. In reality, they will slowly materialize on another plane and walk blindly through it, though they are really set on a direct path toward the other Tyon hub's corresponding point in the plane. By the time they regain consciousness, they will remove the blindfold and find themselves at their destination.
