Inktober IX: Element
Loadstone is a material used that naturally absorbs any nearby substance. It only displays this behavior at very low temperatures, preventing the material from consuming any other items or surroundings it encounters. However, due to one especially cold winter at the court of Ingina in the peaks of Cloudreach, the entire mountaintop was consumed by loadstone after an attempt of execution by the same substance.
Appearance
In its inert state, loadstone resembles a grey, gelatinous form in a nonamorphous state. However, when cooled to -30F, it becomes active and gives off a soft purple or periwinkle hue, all the while quivering and gaining mass as a quasi-liquid.Uses
Loadstone's consumptive nature makes it perfect for eliminating waste products such as manure or debris. It is also used in several forms of execution in controlled environments, typically reverted back to an inert state via the application of a nearby fire or reactive mage. In the case of Ingina, the loadstone multiplied too quickly to be controlled by even the whole of the court's wizards and sorcerers.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
