Celcus

Celcus is a port town with a tall lighthouse on the coast doubling as the local school of magic. The leader is generate mayor Yultude Tafar. The most widely-accepted currency is the drahm, a bronze coin featuring an arm gripping a snake wrapped around it on one side and two crossed plows on the other.
  • Its largest home ship, The Intrepid, is under contract by the Adventurer's Guild group Deepwater Four investigating Hyannis under the guise of heading to ARCHIPELAGO. The ship is due to return back around the 3rd of Clearwind. Several smaller ships are available to rent out under Skipp Knott's authority, but none able to reach any port in Pulliday.

  • Allimise has recently partnered with the Siphon group to push students or visitors to join for the group in exchange for reduced costs on magic and alchemical materials. One of Allimise's faculty, however (metalmuncher Augustus Sylvanus), believes that self-subsistence would be best, and is looking to prove this by securing a cache of materials accessible to an adventuring party, possibly located in the ruins of Kaava.

  • The mermaid that occasionally comes up around the waters near the Mermaid's Treat is actually a changeling living in disguise as a generate in the village (as a Ms. Eileen Terraq) and collects the coin and baubles the patrons throw to her for a profit. The fish-tail is thanks to a supply of partial polymorph potions supplied by the local alchemist (generate Ailon O'terr) in exchange for a cut of the money. However, these potions were actually stolen from a cart during a scuffle with highwaymen several years prior, to which Ailon was a bystander before seizing the potions and running.

Attractions/Shops

Ratille's is a general store built into the local Adventurer's Guild branch. Though it is highly convenient for adventuring parties to retrieve a quest and the supplies they would need for it within the same building, the bulletin board does create some confusion between who has a bounty on their head and who is supposed to come into work the next day.   O'terr's Wares is the alchemist shop of Ailon O'terr, the only person in Celcus who can make proper potions with the exception of some Allimise students. Though his potions are typically watered-down and hardly potable, he still makes enough money from desperate adventurers or his other means that allow his shop to stay open. Of particular note is the large well with partial view from behind the counter that feeds into an unfinished sewer system leading out to the strait of Baesmaw.   World's Anvil is a forge.

Inns/Taverns

Blather's Tongue is a tavern that is silent not because of its emptiness, but because of policy. The tavern has a low tolerance for any volume emitted above the turn of a page or a slight cough, catering to the crowd who would prefer a quaint and quiet meal as opposed to one in a rowdier alehouse. Rates are slightly higher than the surrounding areas and the drink list is much tamer, but the accommodations are the nicest around. Its owner, Rocca Bibae, is a tall and reserved metalmouth with slightly tipped ears and a long, thin face. His employee replacement for the day shift, Ernil Shorrn, is a larger and more bombastic bro generate who tends to latch onto the less-restrained customers.   Smoke is a smokehouse, plain and simple. The atmosphere is rather ramshackle, from the sun-worn wood picket sign hanging out front to the splinter-lined edges of the tables and chairs, but the food is incredible and the spirit inside is often of inebriated, raucous joy. The owner, B, is a bald generate with deep-sunken eyes and a thick beard coating the lower half of his face who mostly speaks in deep grunts easily mistaken for dis/approval.   Mermaid's Treat (though the sign is often missing the "r") is a proper tavern right on the coast with an oceanside view, and the prime drinking hole for most sailors passing through. One of its main draws is the mermaid that occasionally comes under and around the deck, smiling, giggling, or blowing kisses at most patrons, or sunning herself on a nearby rock in the water. The Mermaid's Treat is run by an aarakocra named "Slim" Jim Aileron, a sailor who retired after breaking his right wing while on the sea. He also sports an eyepatch, but everyone local knows it's just for flavor. He is also often responsible for removing the "r" from his tavern's sign when drunk.
