Zemzako

This is the culture of the people who live on the ground floor of the jungles of Endeavour.

Description

In the shadowy depths of Endeavour's jungle floor, beneath towering trees that blot out the sun, the Rüsttuelli have cultivated a rich storyteller culture. Their legends, known as the "Rooted Myths," weave tales of the jungle’s spirits, heroes, and ancient battles, told with rhythmic percussion from their claws tapping against their ivory carapaces. Storytellers, called Carapacem, carve their plates with resin-dyed depictions of these myths, creating living canvases that glow faintly in the bioluminescent light. Music and dance accompany their tales, with drumming and stomping mimicking the jungle’s sounds, while vibrant pigments from fungi and flowers adorn their homes and ceremonial garments. Deeply reverent of the jungle, they see themselves as its chroniclers, their stories a tribute to the living spirit of the forest.

Cultural Traits:

Dangerous Dwellings: The jungle floor is a perilous place, demanding constant vigilance from the Zemzakesh people. Over generations, they have adapted to require less sleep, allowing them to take a rest action in only three-quarters of the time it would take an average person.

Dark Quarters: Due to the usual lack of light at the base of the great trees, the Zemzakesh have trained their ears and general senses to make up for the poor seeing conditions. Gain a +12 Listen and +7 Awareness, but take a -8 to Sight

Jungle Dwellers: Zemzakesh peoples are skilled at surviving in the jungle and gain +12 Survival (Lush). They can also use a minor action to determine the time of day using the slightest shadows from trees as a sundial.

Storyteller Culture: Most traditions and tales are passed down generation by generation through oral storytelling. Due to this the Zemzakesh have a greater understanding of the tales of the world and general history. Gain a +8 History, +6 Divination and +6 Charisma.
