Speak with Dead

Effect

The mage creates a links with the soul of a dead creature and attempts to commune. The caster must make a basic Diplomacy check to attempt to communicate with the creature in focus. Based on the material component expended, the Diplomacy check can be substituted for Bribe or Barter. The difficulty of the check is based on the hostility to the caster, for each step, increase the success category by one. If the target has been dead for less than a single day, the check reduce the category by one. If the target has been dead for greater than a year increase the category by one. On success, the mage can ask a question plus an additional question for each success past the difficulty of the check. The corpse is limited to knowledge and languages it knew in life. Undead creatures cannot be affected by this spell.
