Naun

These small predators are a nuisance to farmers across the coast of Tesard. Native sand-burrowers, the Naun commonly slip under fences and prey on livestock.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Naun are a slight and slender creature with four limbs. Each limb is armed with sharp claws and webbed fingers for digging in the sand and dirt. They stand squat off of the ground with very short legs releative to the long length of the body. Nauns are covered in a coarse, matted coat of fur which helps repulse the sand as they dig. On their head is two small beady eyes, two nostrals that the Naun can close at will and soft pink ears with furry flaps that fold down to protect their ear canals.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Naun reproduce sexually and give birth to litters of young numbering between six and twelve. The gestation period is quick fast at three months and they reach sexual maturity at one year of age.

Ecology and Habitats

The Naun are found most commonly in the desert where their natural ability to dig quickly through the sand provides them an edge over thier prey. While generally they are found closer to oases due to the general inclimate of pray distrubution, but they have been found in dunes across the desert.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Naun are carnavores usually eating small creatures it hunts by burrowing under the sand to ambush from below. Along civilized portions of the deserts, Nauns are infamous for breaking in to all types of enclosures to attack sleeping livestock.
