Tasyr

Structure

Tasyr is an oligarchic meritocracy, where the most important researchers, engineers, and mages are elevated to positions of power and given free reign to rule over their respective fiefs and pursue their "opus", being encouraged to either focus on garnering resources or directly working on their opus.   The highest power in the land belongs to the Council of Adjudication, AKA the Adjudicative Order, however they only to exist to ensure that the actual rulers of Tasyr, the Lords, are acting in a moral, or at least vastly beneficial way to the whole of Tasyr, and to ensure that the laws of the Lords are being carried out to a tee by the lower nobility of Tasyr. Each Lord is allowed to create laws for their own Realm without requesting direct approval from the Council, however the Council does have the ability to nullify harmful or despotic laws. Every major national decision, such as declarations of war, adjustments to the Moral Creed, or the impeachment of a Lord/Lady must be approved by the Council of Adjudication. Despite this, they do not have the rights to propose these laws, or change any existing laws. They also act as mediators in legal or otherwise major disputes between nobility. Adjudicators have many ranks, most of which are names for internal petty and bureaucratic workers, but the most important ones are Counselors and Adjudicators. Counselors are members of the board that directly judge laws and mediate disputes, while Adjudicators themselves are the many members of the government that are sent out to observe and judge actions and deeds. Adjudicators are specialized in statecraft and stealth, with an above average degree of combat training. Adjudicators are typically given a prefix and degree of power in the order based on their scope of investigation, such as Lord-Adjudicators dealing with the Lords, Count-Adjudicators dealing with Counts, and so on.   Secondly are the Lords and Ladies, the actual rulers of Tasyr. In 921 HS there are 3 Lords and 5 Ladies, both of which are equal in ruling power, though historically there have been more and even some rare instances with less, with 7 being the average. They are given rulership of a "Realm", which is decided by vote of the other Lords and oversight from the Adjudicative Order. Lords are given near autonomy, and are allowed to dictate their Realms in whatever way they please, so long as they follow the Moral Creed and ultimately are not severely detrimental to the nation as a whole. Beyond Lords are Dukes, Counts, and Barons, and other specialized nobles like Marque functioning as lower nobility, having some degree of autonomy but ultimately answering to their superiors.

Public Agenda

Like most nations, their major agendas are to obtain resources and manpower to secure a superior lifestyle for their citizens and themselves, however Tasyr is known for its desire to advance the sciences. The Moral Creed was initially founded as a code of ethics and morals for pursuing research in scientific fields.

Assets

Tasyr has intelligence in ample supply, having the only formal, let alone state sponsored Mages College in Endais, having the second best Archaeology union in Endais, and in general having more advanced arcanomechanics in higher quantities being used to improve overall resource production and quality of life. While Tasyr has less pure manpower than other nations, it has more warmages and weapons engineers than any other nation. It has a substandard navy but has recently in 921 made great strides in the field of aeronautics, the first nation to have done so. Its economy is substandard as well, and while raw resource deposits are scarce in Tasyr, ingenious refining and gathering techniques have allowed them to produce goods on par with other nations.

Demography and Population

The farther northeast you go, the more brawny and hard-working individuals you find, whereas the more southeast you go, the more intellectual and introspective people you'll find. A few notable sectors of the realm are Feud Valley, the single most crime-ridden and politically charged region in all of Tasyr, the Point Tasyr region, which has evolved into a bureaucratic center with no real production of it's own, instead relying on the trade from other counties, and the Stonesea region, the single greatest locus of wizards on the planet.
