Ethics

Birth:
  • When a child is born & reaches the age of 3 months old they are taken into the local church to be baptized by the family.

  •
  • At the start of the baptism, the parents make an offering (monetary) to the church.

  • During baptism the child is devoted to "The Self', but not one of the demi-gods (this will be done during the "Right of Passage" ritual at 15 years old).

  • To perform a baptism a child is placed naked on an alter which is draped in a cloth blanked depicting "The Self". There the child has the holy symbol of "The Self" drawn on their chest with holy oil while the priest recites a blessing.

  •     Adolescents:

  • At the age of 15 years a child is believed to start the move to adulthood.

  • At this time a child will preform "The Right of Passage"

  •
  • "The Right of Passage" is as follows:

  •
    • This is preformed during the 15th year of life.
    • In front of an alter the takes will line up naked, each with a blanket depicting "The Self" draped around them.
    • On the alter will be a bowl of oil & numerous branding rods next to a heater copper brazier.
    • During the rite the taker will repeat a blessing as it to them by a priest. "I stand here in eye of The Self, visible. With hand open & exposed I will toil a life in their name. In The Self I grow stronger, doing all I can, bathed in thier light, In times that I may need guidance I will call upon them &.."
    • The final passage of the rite is where the taker chooses a demi-god to follow in their adulthood.
    • Following this choice the taker is branded on the right inside wrist with the chosen demi-gods symbol inside "The Self's" own holy symbol.
    • The brand is then soothed with holy oils by another Priest.
Once the rite is performed a child is considered entering adulthood in the name of The Self & chosen demi-god. The group of participants will then be treated to a feast by the church.

"By our hand we make anew."
