Sebastian Muresan
Commander Sebastian Muresan
Sebastian Muresan was the son of a struggling merchant and mining family in the town of Marti. Having no interest in trade or mining, he lied about his age and joined the Bamard Home Army at the age of fourteen years. He demonstrated uncommon intelligence and skill, and was tapped for officer training by his recruitment officer. Only a year into his training, his deception was revealed, but he had shown record-breaking talents in testing and practical tests, so the king himself signed a pardon and allowed him to continue with his education. He received his first command at the age of sixteen, a small river boat along the Bamard River.
In 1009, he received his first medal for valor in combat as his ship and crew beached themselves on the west bank of the Bamard to buy time against a group of orcs attempting to cross the river. Half of his crew was slain, but Sebastian managed to fight the rest and hold them at a standstill for twelve hours until other boats could arrive and reinforce him. The orcs were driven back without ever crossing onto Bamardi soil. This medal and victory led to his promotion and from there he quickly rose through the ranks. He became colonel and leader of the Perdu garrison at age 28, and a general at age 35, a meteoric ascent. Upon becoming a general, he was a key leader in the defense of the western border against the raids and attacks of Confederate tribes during their civil war. His performance in these battles led to the previous king asking him to step up as the new Commander of Bamard in 1028.
As Commander of Bamard, Sebastian has seen to it that the nations borders should be reinforced, and he has attempted to refocus the constant concern about the Shin Empire to more active borders. He has been a firm proponent of alliance with Columba, and similar steps to be taken with Losana to prevent future raids from the Sypi Confederacy. Though a man of action, he has used his straightforward tactical genius to great effect in the political sphere, and has a strong political position, and seems likely to be the de facto leader of the Kingdom of Bamard for some time to come.
