The Veiled Monarch Rank/Title in Emaxus | World Anvil
Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

The Veiled Monarch

In the final months of the 9th century AT, a pact was forged between one Zekral Kilth and Laaelum, the One Behind the Veil. The former provided a number of things: a set of shards of Willbreaker, the blade of Narvox, a willing and able body, and the will to do what was needed. The latter provided the power and knowledge needed to achieve anything.   Together, they created Willtaker, the Veiled Crown. As the first artifact made since the Reckoning, it is an item of unbelievable power. And, though it was only recently created, its wielder already inherits a title: the Veiled Monarch.   The Veiled Monarch has little sway as a title thus far; however, if all goes as Laeelum intends, it will be held by individuals that shape the world. Currently, the title is held by Zekral Kilth, the First Veiled Monarch and the First Willtaker.   His reign may be long, and it may be influential. He could set the precedent for what Veiled Monarchs achieve. He could be the only Veiled Monarch there ever is, due to success or failure. For now, his goal is to use his power to stop or kill Cthrion and her Stars, and prevent their plan to change the multiverse forever. When he succeeds, who knows what he will do?   The fact of the matter is that Laaelum is a god of bargains. She deals in secrets, in knowledge, and in the intricacies of the mortal mind. She is interested in the manipulation of thoughts and the building blocks of the multiverse. She allows Zekral to handle Cthrion because she's a threat to Laaelum's plans.    And though he has yet to begin building a powerbase as the Veiled Monarch, Laaelum's disparate followers and mage-slaves have already felt the change. They know what is coming, what has been born. They whisper for the Veiled Monarch on bated breath, awaiting the day he begins his true purpose, and standing ready should he ever need their aid.   Veiled Monarchs will not be heroes. Not unless it serves a purpose. They will be archmages, sorcerer-emperors, and imperators. They will bend time, space, people, and souls to their will. Whether they do that of their own accord or as a puppet of Laaelum is up to them. The end is the same.

Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you. Hate. Hate.
