Heliestheos's Stars Organization in Emaxus | World Anvil
Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Heliestheos's Stars

"The hour of my release approachs. In the spirits of having things... ready, I'm creating a group of my greatest followers. My Stars. I want you to be a member. Do you accept?" -- Heliestheos offering the position of Red Star to a powerful warlock

Credits to Matt Colville for Cthrion, who was the original version of Heliestheos before I tweaked her and changed her to fit into my own lore. Also, this group is pretty obviously inspired by the Upper Moons from Demon Slayer. Also also, if you're a player in my campaign, leave this article or so help me Gods, I will whoop your ass like a Cherokee drum.
"I am Heliestheos, the Reshaper. Yamma imprisoned me at the beginning, now I will bring his Eternal Design to its end. The myriad manifolds of this multiverse bring a perceived order to that which does not need it. The Synchronization approaches." -- Heliestheos.
For centuries, Heliestheos, the Reshaper and the Unmaker, has gathered powerful lieutenants to her cause: the Synchronization, the collapse of the many planes of Yophas into a single universe. Now, she has created a group of her six strongest lieutenants, those who possess the greatest share of her power -- and their own -- and work tirelessly to make Yophas ready for her arrival: her Stars.   Their ranks are determined by their strength, with each Star being able to challenge higher ranked Stars for their position; however, the Stars were just formed, so this has never happened. From strongest to weakest, the Stars rank thus: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black. The gulf between Red and Black is nearly insurmountable, and the lower rank Stars know little to nothing about the highest ranked ones.   You, however, are a reader of my work and thus are as omniscient as I allow. Each Star can be found detailed below.

Goals

While the exact reasons for each Star being a Star varies, they are united in their overall goals: performing acts for Heliestheos in the hopes of preparing Yophas for her arrival and the Synchronization that will follow. "Preparing" can mean a myriad of things: causing chaos, weakening prevalent factions, creating planar anchors, and even more niche actions. They all serve a function, even if they are not immediately obvious.

Members

Vyllath; Black Star

Chaotic evil, red greatwyrm   Though she more often travels under the guise of a well-to-do human archmage named Gwendolyn Koume, Vyllath is actually a red greatwyrm. She has been Heliestheos's most loyal follower for centuries, discovering her during the chaos of the Reckoning. From the moment she laid eyes upon the then-nascent form of the Reshaper, Vyllath knew that she had found the only being in the multiverse worthy of her love.   So, Vyllath pledged herself to the Time-Ender, even if she didn't know what exactly she was at the time. Since then, Vyllath has worked tirelessly for the right to be Heliestheos's consort. In her true, greatwyrm form, she has consistently deceived the Council of the Greatwyrms to keep them from catching on to Heliestheos's reawakening. In her human alias, Vyllath has perhaps caused even more damage.   It was Vyllath who disrupted the arcane experiments in Ticinium that caused the Disaster. It was Vyllath who brought the same research she had disrupted to Theussau and helped them create the Chosen. Vyllath pushed Ath'tared to begin his operations in the Desolate Foothills. She has orchestrated numerous conflicts across the planes.   Vyllath is a being of true evil.

Thur'anach; Purple Star

Lawful evil, star spawn emissary   While Vyllath may be the most powerful Star, Thur'anach is actually the most devoted. It was created from one of the many dead planets in Xeccamund, hurtling through the darkened cosmos beyond Ipacia for an eternity before it slammed into Heliestheos's extraplanar prison. Finally, Thur'anach found a purpose. Something to put its great power towards.   Pure entropic chaos amplified by Heliestheos's control over spacetime, Thur'anach has focused on building powerbases on countless planes. Factions totally devoted to its myriad facades, Thur'anach has built armies and nations that, unbeknownst to their constituents, function solely for Heliestheos's will. With its ability to shapeshift endlessly, Thur'anach is Heliestheos's most devoted emissary, existing solely to see the Synchronization through.

Threspotus, the Secluded One; Blue Star

Chaotic evil, topaz greatwyrm   Bearer of the Shard of Chaos, Threspotus was one of the few greatwyrms to survive the Reckoning. The suffering he saw then and the mental toll of wielding the Shard of Chaos have taken their toll on him. He began to relish in death, in chaos, and in war. He began to take mortal forms, wading into places of conflict across Yophas and killing all who he saw.   When Vyllath approached him and offered him the power of spacetime and a chance to face his own kin and their followers in a great war, Threspotus couldn't decline. Amplified by his heartgem, his Shard of Chaos, and millennia of martial warfare, Threspotus became the new Blue Star and enforcer of the Stars' will. Though he greatly eclipsed Thur'anach in strength, he never bothered to challenge him; he was too busy enjoying his new job.

Ath'tared; Former Blue Star

Lawful evil, pit fiend   General of Ral'garan's legions in Mathrak, Ath'tared spearheaded the Stars' assault on Yathra Silthame. He faced down the Five of Swords and, though he was defeated, he kept them busy and separated from their allies for long enough to allow the rest of the city to fall.   Though his death was not permanent, he would take too long to reform in Iduran to be useful to the Stars' final plans. As such, his heartgem was consumed by Thur'anach, and Ath'tared ceased to exist.

Mercy; Green Star

Chaotic evil, tiefling woman   Formerly one of the four masters of the End Monks, Mercy heard Heliestheos's call and began pushing her fellow veteran monks towards complete anarchy; one hundred years ago, they nearly went on a killing spree to dismantle every major government on Emaxus. But, one of the four masters, Adamant, turned against the other three and bound them in karmic chains.   For a century, Mercy has waited in the Draconic Wastes. Waited to be freed, to be unleashed back onto the world like the force of chaos she is. She is a master of the Way of Mercy, believing that the Synchronization is the ultimate mercy to a flawed design, and that death is a release from the suffering of Yophas.

Glatur Hardcloak; Yellow Star

Lawful evil, dwarf man   Leader of the Temple of Xaen in Yathra Silthame, Glatur Hardcloak is a member of the Temple-Tribunal and a devotee of the Codifier. He sees the Synchronization as the perfect order, the great realization of Xaen's commandments. He is a powerful cleric and an influential figure who hopes to bring Xaen's beliefs into the World After.   He helped instigate the Heartland War and has been pulling the strings to militarize Yathra Silthame more.

Zekral Kilth; Former Red Star

Neutral, drow man   Despite being one of the more recent followers of Heliestheos to gain her power, Zekral has already risen in power enough to be named the first Red Star. He adventures with the Five of Swords, who know of his allegiance, and walks a thin line between double agent and traitor to his friends.   His primary tasks had involved laying planar anchors across Emaxus and beyond, as well as taking over Ath'tared's tasks in the Desolate Foothills. Since forging a pact with Laaelum, Veldrin has ceased being the Red Star.
