Demtodhiran

In the early years of the 3rd century AT, Brullin Demtodhir led a great expedition of dwarves to the then-recently rediscovered Gates of Demtodhir. They found the ruins of a civilization burnt to ash and buried beneath the weight of its own failures. But, Brullin, daughter of the ancient Deeplords of Demtodhir, recalled fondly the stories she had heard from her parents of Demtodhir's ancient glory, before its fall. And so, she and her expedition began excavating. Six centuries later and Demtodhir is a prospering dwarven kingdom carved into the Severed Tops that has worked diligently to not only reclaim the glories of their past but also blaze brightly into the future.   Demtodhiran people are no different. Though largely dwarves, any and all who call Demtodhir their home are Demtodhiran, through and through. Denoted by their determination and set apart by their utter loyalty, the people of Demtodhir work hard to secure their future.

Naming Conventions

Demtodhiran uses typical dwarven names, as seen in the Dwarf racial article. Sometimes, even non-dwarf Demtodhirans will take on dwarvish names, or give their children dwarvish names. If not, they tend to use their preceding culture's naming conventions, or their race's.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Most Demtodhirans speak Dwarvish and Common, though a handful also come to speak Gnomish, Halfling, and even Undercommon.

Shared customary codes and values

If Demtodhirans are anything, they are fervently loyal. Outsiders say their fealty to their Deeplord borders on fanaticism, but many use the paired devotion to Kaedo as a happy medium between ultranationalism and good, religious values. In truth, most Demtodhirans straddle the fence between dangerous loyalty to the Deeplord and a healthy balance of respect and distrust for their government; however, most Demtodhirans harbor a deep devotion to Kaedo, if not all of the Children of Yamma.

Art & Architecture

Demtodhir itself is carved from stone and wrought from metal. Much of Demtodhiran architecture is highly efficient and utilitarian, built to withstand the harsh environs of subterranean living. Art is rare, and when it does exist, it is often for the sake of the church of Kaedo or the Deeplord and their supplicants.

Common Myths and Legends

Most Demtodhirans believe that the Lost Halls of Demtodhir hold the ancient secrets of their progenitor civilization. They think they go on ad infinitum, hiding the technologies of the Age of Rebirth, the secrets of Xaecreotis, and perhaps even relics of the gods.

Historical figures

Brullin Demtodhir is held in high regard by Demtodhiran society, as she was the first Deeplord of the Age of Extant and the founder of present day Demtodhir.
