The Arjei

Role and Purpose

The Arjei are an order of taosri priests within the Empire of Kyawas. They are given authoritative power and serve as dedicated law enforcement in addition to other religious duties.

The Arjei administer various religious services for the public such as public readings of the Book of Chains, sanctification rituals, and elaborate prayer knots. The Arjei oversee other ceremonies like the Soul Naming cermony on a persons Naming Day.

An arje carries the authority of three Jat Primas citizens, allowing them to sentence and judge people for summary offenses without council. Idictable offense still require a council of three arje however, and high crimes against the devjat require an auditor to sentence. An arje can only be judged by people of higher effective jat, which usually means somone or a council of people of higher rank within the Arjei.

Ranks and Organization

The Arjei are structured into regional branches, each branch has a leader, the bajarj who is under the authority of the Tavmahar, like all other regional organizations in Kyawas. The bajarj is appointed by the tavmahar. Below the bajarj are the majarjei and below them, the tiarjei.

Tiarjei are taught the basic weaves needed for common ceremonies, but are not granted domains or powers. They are trained in close quarters combat and firearms, with their weapons all being chain weapons such as chain net, bolas, flails, and meteor hammers. Their fighting style revolves around detaining people non-lethally.

Majarjei are given the Control domain and a single skein of Balance, though they can earn more skeins through accolades while serving. A majarje is made the head of a small group tiarjei.
