Learning a Language

To learn a new language requires a total of 75 hours of study time. After every 3 hours of study, an Intelligence Check must be rolled. This should result in approximately 25 separate Intelligence Checks before the language can be added as a known language.

If the learner is engaged in self-study of a language via a book, it is a normal D20 roll. A learner may roll the Intelligence Check with advantage if being taught by a fluent speaker of the language (aka a tutor).
